Just wanted to let everyone know that these surname email lists are available. Some only have a handful of subscribers. I am a descendant of most of these and the listowner of all. Lets wait about 48 hours to give people a chance to sign up and then begin a roll call on all these lists. Also, if anyone would like to become the listowner of any of these lists please let me know. I would be willing to transfer any list to another but McClennen, Ackerman and Hennion. I will apologize in advance if this posting offends any of the listowners but I would like to see some action on the surname mailing lists. I have seen the record of my gggg grandfather, Samuel Cook marrying Mary Coe in 1805 on the marriage records list on the Morris County site. The marriage took place at the Hanover Presbyterian Church. What I want to know is-how can I see a copy of the real record? Does the church have the records and do they copy them? And to whom do I write? Or where else can I find the record? What I am interested in is confirming that Mary Coe is the daughter of Uzal Coe and Mary Burnet. Maryann

I'm looking for the three children of Margaret BERK mentioned, but unnamed, in the will of her father, Henry Berk. Margaret m John Cargill in Sussex Co. 9 Dec 1847. She was deceased at the time of her fathers will in 1876. A Porter Cargill is listed in a census as a nephew of William Berk, Margaret's brother. Any help with these 3 children would be much appreciated. Thank you, Sharon Rhodes
First I'd like to thank everyone who has transcribed information and contributed it to the Morris County website. I have updated the website with links for Rev. War pension records that have been transcribed. The links have been placed in the index pages for Men from Morris County who served in the American Revolution. http://www.rootsweb.com/~njmorris/revwar/index.htm Regards, Brianne Kelly-Bly bkbnj@optonline.net <mailto:bkbnj@optonline.net> Webmaster - NJGenWeb - Morris County <http://www.rootsweb.com/~njmorris>
I found some information on the heirs at law of Jacob C McConnell in a Morris County deed dated March 1, 1894. John J McConnell and wife Amanda, Robert McConnell and wife Cynthia E., Minnie Throsell, William McConnell, Frank McConnell, Joseph McConnell and wife Estella B., Dennis J. McConnell and wife Helen (Atno), Jinnie (or Jenny?) May Berry and husband Theodore, and Annie McConnell are named as grantors and said to be all but one of the heirs at law of Jacob C McConnell. Later in the deed, the one twenty fourth interest of Bertha McConnell is excepted from the transfer. The grantee of the deed is Robert Kearns. Perhaps Bertha McConnell was also Mrs. Robert Kearns. There are a few of us working on this family right now. I would like to exchange information on Jacob C and his family. Kirsten Saxe
One of my families (MCCONNELL) lived in the area where southeastern Sussex County and western Morris County adjoin. I recently had the chance to take a very brief look at a probate/division of land record at the Morris County Surrogates Office. I did not have the chance to read the whole thing, but I did make copies of two pages. I knew from looking at a related deed, that Johnson Chamberlain had petitioned the court for a division of lands to obtain a share or parcel for his wife Caroline. A court ordered that the lands be divided in 1867. The document says that the death of Charles McConnell had been followed by the death of his wife Mary, who had not distributed her husband's lands among his children in her lifetime. The following individuals received shares in the proposed division of land as heirs at law of Charles McConnell: one sixth share to Caroline wife of Johnson Chamberlain They married in July 1850 in Morris County. She was born abt 1830, he abt 1823. one sixth share to Ann wife of George W King They married May 4 1835 or 1833 in Morris County. one sixth share to Harriet wife of Aaron Atno They married 12/10/1839 in Sussex County. Other shares seem to be divided between the children of William McConnell and Mary Ann Whitehead, Charles McConnell Jr and wife Arvin?, and Elijah McConnell, who was married first to Agnes and then to Frances Almira Tilliston. My research has led me to wonder whether the couple had other children who were not named in the proposed division of this particular piece of property. I posted a more detailed message about this family on the McConnell board on July 3rd, and I plan to post more information about McConnell families in the area later. One of these families is the family of a Charles McConnell in Byram, which appears at this point to be a different family. I would like to exchange information about these families. Dates of marriages and deaths, burial locations, and the maiden name of Mary McConnell would be especially helpful. Kirsten Saxe
Hi, I saw a post about a John EARL of Morris County. One of my PARKER ancestor married a Rev. John EARLE of Morris County. My x-cousin, Nona PARKER, m. Rev. John EARLE. They were b. ~ 1899. Nona PARKER's parents were: Charles E. PARKER & Clara A. THOMPSON. Charles was b. in New Bedford (MA), and Clara was b. in NJ -- about 1866. Charles E. PARKER's parents were: Obadiah S. PARKER & Catherine GOULD, my direct x-grandparents (the people above would be cousins of sorts to me), b. 1833-1838, Obadiah in Boonton, and Catherine b. in Taylortown. This is the GOULD ancestors I wrote about a few weeks ago. Perhaps this John EARLE is related to the Rev. John EARL mentioned on a post a few weeks ago. When my mom was little, she came to Morris County from her own home in New Bedford to visit her PARKER relatives and also to go to camp. My mom mentioned that the family she stayed with was the home of Rev. John EARLE and his wife, Nona Parker EARLE. She said that he was a Baptist minister, and that they went to church a great deal. I post this to try to give some EARL info on the earlier post, but I am curious if anyone knows these EARLEs from Morris County -- especially the Reverend and his family. My mom said there were relatives her age -- I think that would have been about 1938 or so. It would be wonderful to find some of my mom's EARL/PARKER/GOULD relatives. My Mom would be thrilled to find some of this family! Betty G. Middleboro, MA
