    1. [NJMORRIS] Re: NJMORRIS-D Digest
    2. Hello list, Again thought I' d post my search query/surname/place, just in case someone new may be visiting list. Am looking for a HENDERSON family in Morris Co., NJ in the 1800-1820 timeframe. Would like to find the father and mother of Mariah or Maria or Mary A Henderson. I was reviewing some material I have had for a couple of years, (a bio on Mariah's husband, Charles Chamberlain, who "was born in the Berkshire Valley of Morris Co NJ". I noticed that the story said Mariah was born "in the same town as her husband" . Maybe I'm getting old and senile, but I don't remember (now what's different about that?) seeing that phrase when I first found this story. Have been looking mostly in Sussex Co., NJ for Hendersons..when maybe I should be looking around Succassuna/Roxbury TWP area of Morris County. However, the marriage record is in Newton, county seat of Sussex, and C and M were listed as married in Vernon, which is also Sussex....but now I wonder. Suppose it could be a mistake in the bio. Anybody have any info on HENDERSONs in Morris County in that time? Jeannette

    3. Judy's work concerning the Mourison family has been very impressive and helpful. One thing I noticed in her Tax Ratable information was that Henry Mourison owned a slave between at least 1796-1810. This is a new area for me. Would anyone know of any sources to research this further? Mahalo , Kevin

Would the NJ State Archives be able to supply me with copies or does someone have the address of another organization that would be a better place to ask? 3. Hello, Has anyone answered your query? I looked in the "Condits and Their Cousins in America vol. 6" and found your line. He served as a member of the State Committee on Surveying almost all of his life. He was one of the orgainzers of the State Bank and its first vice-president, and appears as one of the incorporators of a company chartered on March 3, 1806, to build a railroad from Morristown to Phillipsburg, passing through the "celebrated springs of Hackettstown" For many years he acted as county clerk of Morris, and as one of the judges of the Court of Common Pleas. 2. Hi, I am new to this list, but participate in several others in Pennsylvania. I am researching my ancestor Rev Frederick Dellicker and his wife Maria Barbara (blank). They were married in Morris County and had the son I'm descended from in 1776 - Frederick also. He was the pastor at several churches, according to the book Pastors and People by Gladfelter, before he came to PA, where he lived until his death in 1799 in Montgomery County, PA. If there is anyone out there who is a cousin or has information about the family in New Jersey, I'd be happy to share. I think they also had a son, William, who evidentally stayed in New Jersey. Thanks so much for any help you can give. Sandy

The rest have been posted at other times. Can someone post this email on the Sussex list. Linda can you post your family. Just guessing but the deeds listed here name the Old Place of Maurice Mourison. Maurice Mourison was supposedly the first person to purchase property in Morris County in 1702. That property history states was closer to the Montville/Caldwell Township line. This is just another thought about the old deeds and property descriptions. At times his property was described as being in Jefferson but his great grandson, Peter Courter, property is definately in Montville. 1719 Joseph Kirkbride of Bucks County, Pa and John Job of Middletown, Monmouth County, NJ sold 1250 acres of land to John Koarta. The lands were west of Pompton Plains eastward to the Bog Valley. This land adjoined the 1,000 acre tract on which present day Boonton lies. "Alex Fowler's book on Morris County houses, describes the tract as running from present day Montville toward present-day Lake Valhalla and east from there toward Changebridge Rd." This land was purchased by Kirkbride and Job from the West Jersey Proprietors in 1715. Here are the two new deeds: Deed Book N4, p 303 8 May 1848 Maurice Mowrison of Hardyston, Sussex, NJ to John Davenport of Jefferson, Morris, NJ for $64.26 land in Jefferson adjoining lands of Silas Allington and others beginning at rock which rock is the most SW corner of said lot being likewise the beginning conrer of tract of land containing 36 86/100 acres conveyed to Maurice and Aaron Mourison by Jacob Mourison by deed dated 30 June 1829 which tract the law described in the indenture is a part and running S87E3c90l N14E6c60l N32.30 W12c42l S8.45E16c to beginning containing 5 acres and 42/100 acres.
