    3. Hello Paula; I think I supplied some Guerin information earlier, hopefully that researcher will contact you. According to "Revolutionary Census of NJ" by Ken Stryker-Roda, I find a Gideon and Gideon Jr. Rigges/Riggs in the 1778-80 Tax Ratable index. They lived in Morristown. Other Riggs living there are Aaron, Joniah and Joseph. While the Gurrin spelling doesn't show up , I do find Guiering. The following all live in Morristown: Epenetus;Joseph;Joshua;Thomas and Vinsent. On FTM CD #518 , NJ Source Records, I see a Lewis Riggs engaged as a teamster from the fall of 1812 until the close of the war. It doesn't say where he was from. This CD has many other Riggs mentioned , but no Joshua. Also many Guerins mentioned. Wills from your era include Joshua (1808), Moses (1835); Phebe (1839), Joseph (1828) Eppinetus (1820). Hope this helps , Kevin

    2. Hi Linda, I checked both listings for Calvin in the Munson Record and there is no marriage date in either listing. I have copies of some old church records from Morris Co. (and there are some on the web site also) and when I get back next week I will check again to see if there is any kind of record. I really hope I can find the information on Calvin and his wives and their marriage dates, also their children and their birth dates. If you come across anything more on your Sophia, I would love to hear about it. Thanks for responding, Kay Sibert in cloudy and almost raining SE MI

    2. Bruce Howell
    3. My name is Bruce Howell. I was born in Boonton and grew up in Randolph. I graduated from Dover High School in 1962 and currently live in Atlanta. My father, George Howell and his family were from Mount Hope in Rockaway Township. My mother, Ruth Carroll, was born and raised in Boonton. At this point, I'm just beginning my genealogy search and seeking any info anyone may have on the following surnames from my family tree. Paternal surnames include Howell, Poppy and Kelly from Mount Hope. Maternal surnames all are focused in Boonton initially. They are Carroll, Love, Beatty and Quigley. Currently, I have more info on my mother's side of the family. In Boonton, her grandparents were Lawrence Carroll, Rose Quigley, Mathew Love and Mary Beatty. Any info anyone may have to share would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Bruce

    2. Can anyone identify this family? As I was going through the Morris Deed Book R2, p 266 I started reading this deed. Land is sold by descendants of Peter Doremus on either 21 or 31 January 1825 and describes several lots of land in Pequanock. One of the lots described was purchased from the following people. Why would these people own the same land? Thomas J. Doremus Cornelius Vanness Jacob Vanness Hermanus Courter land containing 12 acres. How are these 4 men related? It is described as in the Little Meadow & Pompton Meadow. I am beginning to doubt the notes I wrote down. The last names below might be Doremus instead of Jacobus. Grantors are Nancy Doremus Peter P. & Margaret Jacobus James A. & Getty Jacobus Henry & Elizabeth Mead James & Margaret Collard James A. & Catherine Vanduyne Ann Jacobus wife of Cornelius wife of Cornelius Jacobus Sof?fannah Doremus Judy Ullman

As someone else posted, definitely try Jefferson Township. Berkshie Valley Road extends from the Milton section to Lower Berkshire Valley section of Roxbury Township, about 8 to 10 miles. The family name of Chamerlain has been prominent in Jefferson's history, with Chamberlain Road off Berkshire Valley Road. Horace Chamberlain served on the township council for many years in the past few decades and was also the mayor for awhile. 3. I came across a few pages from the booklet Tombstones of the Presbyterian Burial Ground, compiled and published by the First Presbyterian Church of Rockaway, New Jersey. In it I found an entry for: Frances J Rowe 1848-1927 Mary E. Barton -hs wf (Frances J.) 1851-1877 My gg-grandfather Henry Rowe came to the US c 1867. He was preceded by his older brother William and a younger brother James. They had a younger (youngest) brother named Francis (sp? Frances) who was born in 1848. I have not been able to find anything on whatever happened to him after his entry in the 1861 census of Cornwall at age 13. The entry in the burial book makes me wonder if he emigrated from Cornwall and joined his brothers in New Jersey, remaining there with James while the others (Henry and William) moved on to Upper Michigan. I would greatly appreciate it if you might look in the sources your have access to to see if there is anything about this Francis(es) Rowe to see if he is the long-lost brother for which I have been searching. If anyone happens to be going through death records of 1927, I would very much appreciate their keeping an eye out for his record and letting me know what it says. Some extra info on Francis: He was born in Marazion/St. Hilary in 1848 (acc. to census). His father was Henry Rowe, and his mother Jane Renowden. Also, I am interested in finding anything on a sister of these four brothers. Louisa, bc 1842 in Marazion, Cornwall (as were they), married Samuel Caddy in 1861. I haven't found anything on them after that. They do not appear in the 1871 census of Cornwall nor on the IGI. Thanks in advance. I appreciate your help so much. Kathy Rowe Atwood

    3. Hello List! I am searching for anything on Schryver and Rowe from the Dover, Hibernia and other Morris County areas. My Grandfather, Joseph S. Schryver lived there and married Angelina Rowe on July 24, 1899 in the First Presbyterian Church in Dover. They had one son, Francis Henry Schryver, born April 27, 1900 and were divorced in about 1904. Angelina Rowe remarried a man named Cox. and had another son named Harold Christian Cox. I have no further details other than Francis Schryver died in 1982 and Harold Cox died, I believe, in 1995. I would appreciate any information anyone has and would share. Thank you and be safe. 2. Hi Jeanette, Try Jefferson Township, it was incorporated in 1802. The First Presbyterian Church of Berkshire Valley incorporated the following year. At that time, Berkshire Valley was the only 'settlement' in Jefferson. If in your research, you come across a Rachel KINNEYBROOK, please let me know. She was listed in the 1830 Fed Census in Jefferson, age 30-39 with 2 sons and 1 daughter, all under the age of 5. No mention of a husband. The Morristown/Morris Twp Library in Morristown has a listing of the burials at the B V Presbyterian Church Cemetery. Anne Stephens Researching KINNEYBROOK, CLAY AND TEBO, all spellings. In a message dated 10/15/00 2:34:16 PM, [email protected] writes: << Hello list, Again thought I' d post my search query/surname/place, just in case someone new may be visiting list. Am looking for a HENDERSON family in Morris Co., NJ in the 1800-1820 timeframe. Would like to find the father and mother of Mariah or Maria or Mary A Henderson. I was reviewing some material I have had for a couple of years, (a bio on Mariah's husband, Charles Chamberlain, who "was born in the Berkshire Valley of Morris Co NJ". I noticed that the story said Mariah was born "in the same town as her husband" . Maybe I'm getting old and senile, but I don't remember (now what's different about that?) seeing that phrase when I first found this story. Have been looking mostly in Sussex Co., NJ for Hendersons..when maybe I should be looking around Succassuna/Roxbury TWP area of Morris County. However, the marriage record is in Newton, county seat of Sussex, and C and M were listed as married in Vernon, which is also Sussex....but now I wonder. Suppose it could be a mistake in the bio. Anybody have any info on HENDERSONs in Morris County in that time? Jeannette >>
