    3. According to "Colonial and Revolutionary Morris County" by Theodore Thayer, Franklin forge was among some 15 built "on the Rockaway and it's branches" ,most before 1760. (p.55) This is the only mention in the book. Hope this helps, Kevin

    2. Thanks, Lori: I know the town of Franklin is in Sussex, as we have visited the mines there. But I think the forge was more near to Dover or Rockaway. In the Morris Co. History that is on the NJ Morris site, there is a chapter about the forges and furnaces in the county and Franklin Forge is mentioned, but it is still unclear to me where it was located. If you find out anything more, please let me know. Many thanks. Ruth Clark [email protected] Poinciana, FL

    3. Rick, I don't think you'll have trouble locating info on your Garrigus family by looking at the Morris Co. Rootsweb site. I know I've seen that name in several of the cemetery and church rosters. The following mention is made in J.P. Crayon's 1894 "History of the Cooper Family" (which focusses on Morris Co. & Rockaway families): "Jacob Garrigus settled in Morris Co. from Philadelphia. His father came from France. His sons David, Jacob Jr., Isaac and John each served in the Revolution. They enlisted with Joseph Casterline, who lived and owned the property now occupied by Wm. H. Casterline near the Union School House, as minutemen under Capt. Robert Gaston of Rockaway, in Lt. Josiah Hall's company in the regular army, and were in several engagements, most of them in this State. These names may be found early connected with the old Rockaway Presbyterian Church. David Garrigus, soon after the Revolution, purchased 600 acres, which now includes the late John O'Hill property and the old Franklin Forge property. He built the house on the John O'Hill property and re-built and worked the Franklin Forge. He removed to Hamilton, OH about 1806 and died there." 1. [NJMORRIS] David and Elizabeth King 1824 marriage
    2. Joseph McGlynn
    3. Some information for all those individuals interested in the KING surname in Morris and Warren County. I have struggled with the question of the marriage of John C King and Elizabeth King (married March 4, 1824) for several years. I believe that John C King was the son of David King and Nancy Ford, but have not found positive proof of this. I finally found a death certificate for Elizabeth King which states Name: -Elizabeth King Cause of death - "Exhaustion". Age - 77 years,3 months, 20 days Place of birth - Morris County, New Jersey Place of Death - Adams St., Belvidere, Warren County, NJ Father's name - Jesse King Mother's Name - Hannah King Date of Death - 12 September, 1883 Length of sickness - months Place of burial - Belvidere Cemetary If my assumptions are true, John C King, son of David King and Nancy (Ford) King, married Elizabeth King, daughter of Jesse King and Hannah (Ford) King. The interesting thing here is that Jesse King and David King are brothers, and Hannah Ford and Nancy Ford are sisters, so.......That means Elizabeth King and David King are 1st cousins, in fact, double 1st cousins. This can really screw up a family tree... If anyone has knowledge of a death certificate or death date for John C King (probably in Warren County), or if you have comments on my e-mail, please contact me. Thanks Joe in Richmond, Va

    2. Greetings, I've recently discovered a possible connection to Isaac Lewis (1752-1812) and his wife Sarah Garrigus (bc 1755). I believe I've been able to trace the Lewis ancestry but I'm stumped on Sarah Garrigus' line. Does anyone have any information on possible parents for her? Thanks, Rick Novak
