I found an obit in the Morris County Daily Record on 24 Apr 2001. Theodore S. Corwin, age 93. Born Orange, NJ...moved to Chatham in 1955. His wife, Doris KING Corwin died in 1990. They married in 1938. I have both King and Corwin in my line, but don't recognize these folks. Anyone know who they are? Letha Holmes NJMORRIS List Owner

Paul, If you have a copy of it, I believe this counterfeiting ring is mentioned in the Munsell's History of Morris County. If it's not this one, then there was more than one.......... Are you from Amesbury MA? If so, I've got the Lt Jonathan FARREN family of AmesburyMA and Newtown NH pretty well covered in the early/mid 1700s. If you know anyone there who is researching that line, let me know. There is family lore that suggests a couple families I'm researching lived in/around the house Tempe Wick grew up in. Would anyone know the succession of owners of the Wick house from the time she lived there until the National Park Service ownership? Linda in Colorado
I'd be interested in learning more about Ezekial Baldwin's wife Martha (Hayward). I descend thru their daughter Mary, who married Joseph Willis. For a discussion on how Rebecca is most likely Crane, see "Rebecca, the Wife of Azaria Crane II" by William Pryor in "Genealogies of NJ Families". This is also available on FTM CD # 182. The basic argument is the Prince names that appear among their children. Sorry I cannot remember the listmember kind enough to send this to me. I found a DOB fo Rebecca at the FTM Genealogy Library. This is in "Report of the Commissioners of Boston Ma. 1630-1699" (William Whitmore Vol. 9 1883)on page 197. She was born 21 Nov. 1691 in Boston, Suffolk, Mass. to Job Prince and Rebecca Phippen. In "Narratives of Newark", there is mention of a sloop that went regulary between Newark and Connecticut. Take care, Kevin
Hello, I just joined the list. I think my wife's Middleswarth and Reed ancestors were in Morris County between 1768 and 1792. I am trying to find the church attended by John Middleswarth(b. 1745) and perhaps his father, Abraham Van Middleswarth(b. 1723). They began in the DRC at Raritan, NJ. In 1768, they helped found a Presbyterian Church at Red Hill(Tinicum), Bucks Co, PA. John later server in the Quartermaster Corps of the NJ Militia in the Revolutionary War, so he perhaps moved back to NJ after he was in the PA church in 1768. John married Martha REED about 1782, had six children, including Abraham and Ner, and wound up in Snyder Co, PA in 1792. I found several articles by a Mr. Woolever, posted on the USGenWeb Archives. They concerned the Presbyterian churches at Schooley's Mountain and Pleasant Grove. But those churches were founded after John Middleswarth left NJ. I saw somewhere that John Middleswarth was a leading citizen of Pleasant Grove. So, the big question is: "In the years 1768 to 1792, which Presbyterian churches would I look at for the birth records of his children?" Was there any particular Presbyterian church that preceded those at Schooley's Mountain and Pleasant Grove? Thanks in advance for any suggestions you might have. Bruce Fosnocht

Does anyone remember where you could get the Wall Size Map of Morris Co.? I believe it was $15.00. It was old and had the names of families on it. I guess would be like the ones in the Beers Map Book, that I don't have either. Forgetful Norma

Sorry I posted the wrong list for Morris County yesterday. Here's the correct list... Bob Listmembers, I am involved in a 12+ years project to locate and document all Civil War soldiers buried in New Jersey cemeteries. The following list of "mystery" soldiers were affiliated in some way with this county and whose burial places I am trying to find. They may or may not be buried in this county, but I'd like to know where they are buried regardless, so I can remove them from my lists. The dates of death and the name spellings are as found. I've also included any aliases if known. Please contact me if you know where any of these soldiers are buried. "Unk means unknown DoD.
