Hello all The following was posted on the NJOCEAN-L site on 9/20 and don't know if it was posted here on the Monmouth site so this may be a repeat but with additional questions: LDS microfische #6052676 A Church Book Part 1, page 4 Upper Freehold Baptist Church, Organized 1766 In the year 1761: Mr. Samuel Stillman came to live at Bordentown, and supplyed this Branch part of his Time Till aug: 1763: when he removed to Boston. In the year 1761: Mr. David Jones removed from the welch Tract in New CastleCounty on Delaware, & came to Middletown and being called to the work of the ministry some Time before, he continued to exercise his gifts at middletown & elsewhere. In the year 1762: being married, he removed to live in lower Freehold --- And 1762: he began to supply this Branch once in three weeks, which Course he continued, till some Time in the Beginning of the year 1766 --- about which Time, (the Lord having added within two years Several Souls to this Branch) it was thought expedient to be constituted a Church in gospel order. And after Solemn Deliberation, a Letter was sent to middletown for a Dismission, from them, a Copy of which is here transcribed, viz: Crosswicks, Feb. 6, 1766 We whose Names are subscribed, being moved from many Considerations, do humbly lay our united Request before our Brethren at Middletown To be constituted a Church of Christ in gospel order at upper Freehold, generally called Crosswicks, assuring our Brethren, that our request arises from no Dislike to their Faith or Practice; hoping that our Petition will meet with approbation, and waiting for an answer, we remain yours in Christ. Joseph Homes, Will. vaughn, Thos. Farr, David Jones, Will. Tapscott, Thos. Case, Jonathan homes, Edward Taylor, Peter Sexton, Cristopher Morris, Safety Meghee, Ezekiel Mount, Thos. Cox, Able Edwards, Thos. walton, John Williams, Rebecca Cox, Mary Cox, Rachel Sexton, Rebecca Price, mary Coward, Anne gordin, Mary Cox, Mercy Vaughn, Catharine brittain, Mary Stephenson, Amey Strickland, Deborah Cox, Rebecca Clayton, Rebecca Walton, Susannah Frames, Martha Shephard, Mary Patterson, Mary Stillwell, Eliza. Cannaan, Martha Stephenson, and some others. (This is the end of the page. This is typed with no corrections to the original typists' work.) Terri MY QUESTIONS: Is this the same Rev. David Jones of "Ye Old Yellow Meeting House?" as above refers to Crosswicks? Are the people mentioned from Middletown Baptist Church or could some be from the same location as David Jones was from - New Castle County on Delaware? Where is the Welch Tract exactly and what is it referring to to? Are any of these people listed ancestors to you? I would like to know where they were residing and where they came from? This LDS microfische ends with and some others after the names but would the original list other names? Can the original records be found in the Upper Freehold Basptist Church with other names?
