I have 2 individuals in my tree bearing the given & middle names Lebeus Lathrop [all var sp]. being a rather unique name, I wondered if perhaps the first Lebeus [>1790-<1820] was named 'for' someone, the 2nd [s/o LL's bro] being named for the 1st. doing a quick search, I found some var sp of Lebius LATHROP as an individual in NJ, though earlier 1700s. anyone researching this clan? or know if this fellow was some kind of Rev War hero [or pastor?] in Monmouth co or NJ in general? I'm rather curious. my KIRBY family [where these LLs appear] eventually settled in the Upper Freehold area of Monmouth but possibly got there from Middleex or even PA. slightly stalled research breeds idol curiosity... and lovin the history! thanks. kirby in NC [email protected]
