I am currently transcribing 1850 Camden County, NJ but it is on microfilm. I have about 3 other census on microfilm as well that I have volunteered to transcribe. It is not a job for the weak of heart. I have two more townships to finish for 1850 Camden County, NJ. When completed I will have transcribed 29,000 names. I also purchased the 1880 US Census and the 1881 British Census. I do many lookups on these Census CD's for indivduals, such as yourself. Here is the problem, We desperately need volunteers to transcribe these census.I realize that many of you have not volunteered because the USGENWEB CENSUS Project at this time can not afford to purchase these Census and supply them to the transcribers so it must come out of the indivuals pocket. There are many Census CD's, however, that have been donated to the project and are shipped to an individual who seriously wants to help the project by transcribing. If you have but an hour a day that you could spare to transcribe a CD, it would not only help this project but genealogists as well. This is where you should look to see if the county you wish to transcribe has been a donated resource for New Jersey. http://www.us-census.org/states/newjersey/ These are the CD's that I have donated and will send to a volunteer once they have filled out the volunteer form.
