Hi, My Dad's family in Monmouth County goes back to at least before the Revolutionary War and my Dad (Arthur Davis IRWIN) was born and raised in Atlantic Highlands. Dad's Dad, Henry Arthur IRWIN, was the fire chief at one time (before 1937-he died young) and Henry's Dad, William P. IRWIN, was a judge, I understand. In 1963, NJ put a freeway through my grandmothers' home (Viola Davis IRWIN and Henrietta McCoy DAVIS) and they moved to FL. I haven't been back to NJ since, but now will have the opportunity to go New Year's Day and again Jan 4. My questions: Will there be anyplace open Jan 4th that might have records available? I hear there is an "Obadiah Stillwell Davis House".Do any of you know about this and if so, can it be visited? Any inexpensive motel recommendations?
