upper freehold -- many thanks to Linda for posting the links to the "Manor of Buckhole" installments. through these postings I've seen many 'neighbors' [and possible relatives; all I'm missing is the proof]! the writer mentions Elizabeth Kirby Waldon ELY as being the neice of Frank Kirby, gdau of Elizabeth KIRBY [possibly Harriett Elizabeth?] & David G WALDON of Waldon's store. it seems 'everyone' knows the story of Frank Kirby [Robert Franklin 1842-1868] being struck by lightning, plowing or as he stood in his doorway. Frank was s/o Robert Franklin [1811-1891] & Elizabeth Moreland [1812-1884] KIRBY. Robert F 1811 is s/o Robert KIRBY 1765-1850 & Elizabeth unk 1771-1853. Robert Kirby is clearly on the Lightfoot map and the stories posted in the Manor of Buckhole follow the ownership through a few forward lines. going backward is where I could use some help... does anyone know who was the father of Robert KIRBY 1765 or who was his wife Elizabeth 1771? I've seen online where she might be Elizabeth LEMING. I keep reading & re-reading these excerpts. there may be clues in there for me to unravel some of my puzzle but they haven't jumped out at me just yet. anyone with old ties to this area or hints, tips or addresses of other researchers? even knowledge of *which* ELYs and KIRBYs married... it gets very confusing with repetition of pet names... I've been at this a while; and Robert 1765 is in my database but his connection is a shaky one. it is possible he is a son of my anc Thomas KIRBY b1722 but he's not in the Mary Kirby HOLMES bible; am open to any theories or examples to support or counter the idea! I'm working to determine *where* and 'whom' Thomas Kirby 1725 was from; I'm pretty sure his wife Elizabeth is the one mentioned in UF Baptist as having come from Cranbury in 1769, though I don't know her maiden name, either [poss DAVISON?]. my Thomas KIRBY family was definitely of Upper Freehold, Allentown/Hightstown area. I have an 1851 lightfoot map but my 'direct' kin had gone west by 1839 [so not there]. when they left they sold over 200 acres. thanks, anybody! hope I didn't put too much info out here, just trying to keep all the thomas, robert, william & elizabeths straight! kirby in NC kirbz@northstate.net
