    1. [NJMONMOU] Research trip to NJ

    3. Hello Monmouth listers. I'm planning a research trip to NJ soon to research some elusive Wooley ancestors. My g-g-g-grandfather was Joel Wooley (1791-1872). He died in Ohio and lived in Enfield, Tompkins county, NY between about 1814-1835. He most likely is related to another Joel Wooley who lived in the Shark River area of Monmouth county from about 1757 and died in Tomkins county NY in 1822. I've got lots of deeds which this Joel Wooley was involved with. And several wills which he witnessed or executed. I've never found any sure proof of my theory that these two are father and son (or even uncle and nephew) ... and have recently received some conflicting information which asserts that my g-g-g-grandfather Joel was the son of a John Wooley and was born (or at least lived in ) Egg Harbor before going to NY. So here's my question? Where do you suggest I start my research? And where should I definitely not miss? I know about: - Monmouth County Archives - Monmouth County Historical Society - Rutgers ( some collection) I've done a lot of deed and will research using microfiche and writing away for things. Is Ocean County going to be a must visit? My ancestors were defintely out of NJ by 1818. Thanks!! Mary Burdick Watertown, MA
