Barbara, I am new to this list but wanted to respond to your query about Sarah Smock Bennet. I am researching Payntons and Paintons and have run across a christening record for two Paintons (children of Samuel Painton and Mary Snyder): Uriah Smock Painton and Caroline Smock Paynton. I have no other marriage record for Samuel or Mary Synder and would be interested if what you find out regarding the Smock middle name also pertains to these two. Perhaps there was a remarriage or the name Smock was a family tradition??? Thanks and good luck with your research.
