My fault the correct spelling, or rather the spelling on my quilt is "Brentton H. Bennett" There is also an Ella E. Bennett. The date on the quilt is March 28, 1872. Grandmom Allen (my ggrandmother, and that is what I called her even in person) was 16 when she married so any one born in the 1850s would be her peer. However the youngest person listed on the quilt is Libie Shafto, her cousin, age 5 months; the oldest Hannah Shafto, her aunt, who was 83. So we have birth dates from 1789 to 1872. Probably any where in that range. Most are from the 1830's to 1872. All I know about these persons are their names. They could be relatives of the Shafto family or neighbors. They probably lived in the Shark River area. All the names with a town are Shark River except for one family of Shafto's from Asbury Park. Just incase you noticed what seems to be an inconsistency in Grandmom Allen's age, she lived to be 100 years and 6 months and was lucid all but about the last 2 days. A remarkable lady. If any of you grew up in Villa Park, she is the Mrs. Allen who owned the grocery store and ran the post office as postmistress. I am her oldest ggrandchild and was 14 when she died. Sure wish I had seen this quilt when she was alive. She would have told me who everyone was. Joyce at the Jersey Shore
