Hi, Maggie and Barbara, Guess my brain was mush last week when I first saw the reference to Sarah Smock Bennett - should have set off bells and whistles for me. My husband is descended through John Leffert Bennet and Sarah Logan. FYI, that is the family referred to as being buried "on the Cross Farm in Scobeyville" in "Book of the Dead" that has been mentioned recently. I am trying to pin down exactly where on the property the cemetery was. I know it is part of the property that now contains the Green Acres Park on Laird Rd., and have spoken with people at the Township Hall in Colts Neck. The cemetery was vandalized about 25 years ago - before I knew that was the family I was searching for - and that particular area of the park is very overgrown. I think the last time I was there, I probably got within 50 feet of it. The Township is aware that the cemetery is there and does not plan to descecrate it in any way, but my next effort is to get them to clear and mark it - it does contain a burial of a Rev. War soldier, so hoping that will get them to do something. It actually contained 17 burials, including my husband's g grandfather's 2 siblings who died in the 1850s. (Maggie, they are the children of Stout Holmes Bennet that we spoke about.) Barbara, get back to me privately so we can compare notes. -- Candy_B cbservices@monmouth.com Researching Bennett, Cooper, Vanderveer, Woolley & related families in NJ Researching O'Brien, Brown, Boyle, Cavanaugh, Noonan, Fitzgerald, Spellman, Messier (Macey), LaCroix (Cross), Blais (Blair), Durand, Simonneau, Chabbot (Jabbot, Jabaut), Boucher, Sharron and related families in NY, New England and Quebec
