Hi. Sorry if this post is so long, but I was at the auction yesterday and came across this deed from 1874. I thought I would share it with you...... Warranty Deed - Lucy C. Van Pelt & husband to John C. McQueen - Dated June 20th 1874 - Received in the clerks office of the county of Monmouth on the 24 day of August A.D. 1874 at ___ o’clock in the ____ noon, and recorded in book 263 of Deeds for said county, on pages 154 (then what looks like rc?, initials maybe?) Signed Thos. V. Arrowsmith Clerk. This indenture, made the thirteenth day of June in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and seventy four between Lucy C. Van Pelt wife of Peter Van Pelt of the Township of Shrewsbury in the county of Monmouth and state of New Jersey of the first part: and John C. Mc Queen of the Township of Shrewsbury in the county of Monmouth and the state of New Jersey of the second part: Witnesseth, that the said party of the first part, for and in consideration of TWO HUNDRED AND TWENTY FIVE DOLLARS lawful money of the United States of America, to her in hand well and truly paid by the said party of the second part, at or before the sealing and delivery of these presents, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, and the said party of the first part therewith fully satisfied, contented and paid hath given, granted, bargained, sold aliened, released, enfeoffed, conveyed and confirmed, and by these presents doth give, grant, bargain, sell, alien, release, enfeoff, convey and confirm to the said party of the second part, and to his heirs and assigns forever, all that lot, tract or parcel of land and premises, hereinafter particularly described, situate, lying and being in the township of Shrewsbury in the County of Monmouth and state of New Jersey. Bounded as follows, Beginning at a post standing in the northwest corner of John McQueens’ lot thence running southwardly along said McQueens’ land one hundred and ninety eight feet to a post. Standing in the southwest corner of said McQueens’ lot, thence running westerly along land of Charles Leighten forty three feet to a post, thence northerly on a line parallel with the first aforesaid line one hundred and ninety feet to a post, standing at the south side of Catherine Street, trench easterly along the south side of Catherine Street to the place of beginning forty times per? The property hereby conveyed is intended to be the same described in a deed from Deborah Ann Earle and James F. Earle her husband to Lucy C. Van Pelt, wife of Peter Van Pelt, bearing date May 1st, 1874, and is subject to a mortgage of one hundred & twenty five dollars given by the said Lucy C. Van Pelt to said Deborah Ann Earle and James F. Earle as part of consideration for said property bearing date May 1st 1874. The document is signed and sealed by Lucy and Peter. I have another one with the names French/Enright/Brady/Martin listed, also in Shrewsbury dated 1881. When I get a chance, I'll copy part of that one too, if it's ok with everyone. Debbie
