    2. P. 15: "JOHN KEMPTON operated a pottery on Pine Street about 1836. EDWIN M.. BUDD , WILLIAM CLOTHIER and WILLIAM DORON had a soap and candle factory on Water Street. WILLIAM LYCETT was in the same business on Church street and THOMAS FOY on Monroe street." "Among the early carriage makers were JONATHAN ROGERS, at the corner of Pine and Wall Streets, and CHARLES COWGILL on Church Street. ASA GASKILL had a blacksmith shop in the rear of the present No. 33 Main street in 1834. In 1845 he operated a carriage factory at the southwest corner of Garden and Buttonwood Streets. GEORGE H. PEAK had a carriage shop east of the present corner of Bispham Street in 1838...." The ALCOTT and RISDON founddries were important early industries. The Risdo foundry, on the south side of Church Street, was founded in 1847 as the Eagle Foundry Company by THEODORE H. RISDON and associates. .." "THOMAS C.
