Geoffrey: I've seen your periodic postings on the Monmouth County Rootsweb list, and am finally organized enough to ask you to find a few things for me. I am researching Joseph Applegate and Elizabeth Clayton, who married in Monmouth Co NJ on 8 Nov 1818. I have a copy of their marriage return. According to their cemetery records in Shelby Co OH, Joseph was born 11 Jan 1793 and Elizabeth was born 9 Dec 1792. They were both born in NJ, probably Monmouth Co. What I would like you to find for me are the following: 1) Marriage record for John Applegate and Miss NEWMAN, about 1790 in Monmouth Co. These were supposedly Joseph's parents. 2) Marriage record for John Applegate and his second wife, Mary Gump. I don't know when this marriage occurred, but am guessing it was between 1793-1830. 3) Land records pinpointing where in Monmouth County John Applegate lived, and when he sold out to move to Indiana (around 1830, I'm guessing). 4) Copies of the following wills: David Clayton, 1804 David J. Clayton, 1860 Edward Clayton, 1833 Henry Clayton, 1830 Henry Clayton, 1853 James Clayton, 1850 John I. Clayton, 1847 Joseph Clayton Sr., 1816 Zebulon Clayton, 1836 These are the only men I saw in the index of wills who could possibly be Elizabeth's father.
