Walter A. Stiles 04/01/00 RARITAN TOWNSHIP -- Walter A. Stiles, 70, died Thursday at home. Born in Montclair, he lived in Brooklyn, N.Y., and Quakertown before moving to Raritan Township nine years ago. Mr. Stiles retired in 1991 after seven years as an analyst/programmer with Ingersoll Rand/Dresser Pumps, Phillipsburg. He previously was an analyst/programmer for 32 years with Olivetti Corp. in New York City and Branchburg. He was an Air Force veteran of the Korean War, serving from 1948 to 1952. Mr. Stiles was a member of Flemington Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7856 and Flatland Post 391 of American Legion, Brooklyn. He was knowledgeable about the Civil War and enjoyed reading the era. Son of the late Henry and Ethel May Post Stiles, father of the late Lee and husband of the late Toblyn Stiles, he is survived by his wife, Betty Charous Stiles; two stepsons, William David Doyle of Flemington and James Doyle of Pittstown; a stepdaughter, Kim Doyle of Jackson, Mo.; two brothers, Arthur S. of Newton and Albert M. of Hudson, Fla.; six stepgrandchildren; nieces and nephews. Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Sunday in Newell Cemetery, Stanton, under the direction of Fisher Funeral Home, Flemington. There will be no calling hours.
