CORLIS STEPHEN TRUEX (David #1; Unknown), was born at Squan Village, Monmouth County ca. 1809, and died 16 July 1864 at Wall Township at the age of 55 of consumption (d.c.), buried in Allenwood cemetery, Allenwood, Monmouth County. His death certificate gives his parents as DAVID and SARAH TRUAX. Corlis married 19 March 1835 at Howell Township by Zebulon Clayton, JP, (Monmouth County Marriage Book C, page 161), CHRISTIAN JOHNSON, born either 1803 (57 at death) or ca. 1807, died 6 November 1860 at Squan Village, Monmouth County (d.c.). The name of her parents is not given in her death record. The marriage record gives Corlis as "Charles L." in error. On 17 July 1846 Samuel Brand and Corlius Treuax, both of Howell Township made leased to Corlius Trueax a parcel of land in Howell Township (same quitclaimed to Samuel Brand by Edward Shearman) for the term of six months from this date doth erect or cause to erect a dwelling for himself and family and occupies the same himself…….(Monmouth County Surrogates Office, Miscellaneous Book C, p 317). The 1850 Federal Census of Howell Township enumerates Corlies Truax, age 40; Christian, 43; Hannah, 12; John 10; Henry, 7; Lydia, 2.
