I found this post rather interesting, so I will take a shot in the dark (even though the geography might be a little off, these people seemed to move around quite a bit) and post a query in reference-- I am looking to find out what I can about a Walter Hyer/Hier/Hyre, who married Julia Page (1848-1917, d/o Marvin Page and Margaret C. Lutes). Julia married David Traphagen Stryker in Hoboken ca. 1881, and her status is listed as H's widow. I have found references to a Ben Hyer/Hier/Hyre, who ended up in Utah, but I do not know whether Ben was Julia's and Walter's son, or nephew, or stepchild, or some other relation. From family letters, I know that Julia and Walter lived in Ontario for a while-- Julia's mother's Lutes relations were plentiful in that area. I also know that David and Julia lived in, raised their family in, and are buried in Whitehouse Station NJ (Hunterdon Co.); however, David's aunt, Catherine Ditmars Stryker, owned property in Monmouth, and died in 1881. ----- Original Message ----- From: "hummm" <nikki@iag.net> To: <NJMONMOU-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, June 18, 2000 10:17 PM Subject: Re: [NJMONMOU] Van Nest Family of Rumson > > Dear Debbie: > > I also found a pension index that has William H.
