    2. Margaret DeMarco
    3. I am seeking information on Catherine QUICK, who was born c1786, probably in NJ or NY. Catherine married Benjamin MORRIS and had a large family. Children of this couple were (not in any particular order): Deborah Ann, William Henry, Benjamin, John L., Rebecca, George H., Mary Elizabeth, Hannah P., and Catherine. Benjamin MORRIS died September 4, 1841, at the age of 58 years, 2 months, and 23 days. He was buried in the old churchyard north of Oakhurst. Catherine (QUICK) MORRIS died October 1, 1852, at the age of 66 years, 8 months, and 5 days. She was buried in the old churchyard north of Oakhurst. Does anyone have any information on the ancestry of this couple? Regards, Margaret DeMarco demarco@ix.netcom.cm

    3. Hi - I am wanting to request a death record from 1881. My understanding is that I have to request it from the NJ Office of Vital Statistics (rather than the Archives) because it took place after 1878... In reading the website for the Office of Vital Statistics, I am confused about the rule requiring the requestor to submit proof of identify. Is that only necessary when you are requesting a Certified Copy or is it also necessary when you are requesting just a copy of the record for Genealogical purposes (a "certification"). Anyone done this recently? Thanks, Liz

    1. Re: [NJMON] Where is Middletown Point?
    2. Middletown Point was the "downtown" of the present Matawan borough, so-called because it was Middletown's port or shipping point for its early history. The settlement was on Matawan Creek, which had access to Raritan Bay and was once navigable by oceangoing ships. The name fell out of use after the formation of Matawan Township in 1857, which had been part of Raritan (now Hazlet) Township since 1848 when Middletown had its major division, a period when most original townships were divided, apparently for administrative ease, a major unstudied aspect of NJ history. Matawan borough was not formed until 1895, a part of its history often overlooked by the Matawan historical community which tends to date Matawan's origin from its late 17th century settlement prior to the formation of municipalities, conveniently forgetting it having been a part of Middletown Township for its early times. 3. FYI - Many ISP and business filters are kicking back or quarantining any mail that has the word virus (or spam) in the subject line. Consequently virus information from me will now have just a "V" in subject line. Please do NOT post virus warnings to the list. Send them to me, I will check them out and post to the list if I find it necessary. Right now this one seems to be mainly going through the business community and the risk is rated as low but if you are a "news" junkie beware! Pat Mount List Admin Technology New virus masquerades as news headlines Friday, January 21, 2005 Posted: 10:19 AM EST (1519 GMT) (CNN) -- Researchers have identified a new computer virus that masquerades as news headlines from CNN's Web site. Sophos, an anti-virus firm, says the virus -- identified as Crowt-A -- pulls headlines, subject lines and other content from CNN.com. Once opened, the virus can then scan the user's address book and try to email itself to those users. The virus' subject line and attachment share the same name, Sophos researchers say, but change continually to match headlines from CNN.com's home page. In addition to emailing itself to other users, the virus also installs a "backdoor Trojan function," according to Sophos. This function can pick up and send data such as keystrokes to a remote user -- a practice sometimes used by hackers to obtain sensitive information such as passwords. Side effects * Allows others to access the computer * Sends itself to email addresses found on the infected computer * Deletes files off the computer * Steals information * Forges the sender's email address Aliases * WORM_CROWT.A *W32/Crowt-A http://www.sophos.com/virusinfo/analyses/w32crowta.html

    3. To anyone who may be interested: I have changed e-mail providers. Should you wish to contact me off-list for anyone reason, my new e-mail address is scott@latke.net. sdpeters@optonline.net dies on Friday when I have the cable turned off. As you can see, I'm still on the list, just with a new e-mail address. And if you have e-mailed me for any reason over the past couple of months and did not get a response, please send me your question, etc., again. My personal life has been a mess during that time and answering e-mail was at the very bottom of my list of priorities. My apologies. Sincerely Scott D. Peters Historically Speaking 17 Alexandria Dr. Manalapan, NJ 07726 -------------------- Keep a sense of humor! If you let it be, ADD can be really funny at times. Don’t miss out on the chance to laugh when the laugh is there. At that psychological branch point we all know so well, when the split-second options are to get mad, cry, or laugh, go for the laughter. Humor is a key to a happy life with ADD.
