    2. Hi Listers, Would SKS (some kind soul) with a subscription to One World Tree via Ancestry.com please do a lookup for me as I do not have this subscription, and I understand there is a reference to my ancestors: Willian A. MAXSON, b. 1806, and his father, John MAXSON, b. 1761. Naturally, if there is additional info on this family I'd be most interested! Many thanks in advance! Jeanne

    1. patrick imlay-also in wickatunk=see note-Imlay/Emlay possible
    2. it mentions that he lived in wickatunk-which is between matawan and freehold(monmouth county) so the prevelant feelings that emleys and im lays could be related might be used if you are searching for this name. just my own thoughts! also, he was in nj by 1693 at the least since he first owned the property then. Lots of Imlays and Emleys around monmouth county. Linda

    1. Original records at NJ Historical Society
    2. Karen Tibbals
    3. Saturday I went to the NJ Historical Society to look at original newspapers. They have a lot of material that is unique and is found nowhere else, including inscriptions of gravestones from various cemetaries, all over the state. http://www.jerseyhistory.org/ THe newspapers I looked at are the only copies available anywhere in the world and they are crumbling. I hated to touch them. I wish they could be scanned and microfilmed, but I understand that the cost to do so is quite large. Karen

    2. Karen Tibbals
    3. Here are instructions for ordering vital records from the state of NJ: http://www.state.nj.us/health/vital/writein.shtml Here is the form: http://www.state.nj.us/health/forms/reg-3.dot Note: You must include a photocopy of 2 forms of ID, one with a picture. These records can also be ordered from the local municipality where the event occured. The ones I have ordered from don't take checks, you need to send a money order. But their service is much faster. I suggest you call the municipality to ask for their policy. -----Original Message----- From: NJMONMOU-D-request@rootsweb.com [mailto:NJMONMOU-D-request@rootsweb.com] Sent: Monday, March 07, 2005 10:00 PM To: NJMONMOU-D@rootsweb.com Subject: NJMONMOU-D Digest V05 #37

    3. Hi Folks, I'd like to thank all of those who wrote to me both on and off-list regarding the new question of William Wynkoop and his imprisonment for Arson around August of 1860. You had some very good suggestions and I intend to follow up on each and everyone of them. Once again, I'm very impressed with the depth of the knowledge regarding Monmouth County that all of you seem to have and your generosity in sharing. I've very grateful. I hope you all have a great week! All my best, Chris Michelle Tucker Chubenko wrote: Chris, Have you contacted the Monmouth County Archives for assistance? 1. Re: [NJMON] proposed "readoption"
    2. List members, especially those outside New Jersey, should realize there is a fiscal crises in the State, not merely the current one of balancing the budget, but a larger matter of elected officials that are afraid to tax to address revenue needs through taxation. Among the fallout is a tendency to increase fees so users bear a greater part of the cost for their contacted agency. This posture has many more serious and greater consequences, such as public expenses falling on the more vulnerable bodies, the municipalities, and payers, the individual property owners whose real estate taxes are incredibly high. It must not have been anyone who does genealogy. It's almost like ticket scalping. I guess there's no time to lose......has anybody ordered a vital record recently who can tell us real quick how to order birth/death certificates for Monmouth County? Can they be ordered online with a credit card? I never did it before because I felt I couldn't "afford" it. Now it might be out of the question! My ancestors lived in Long Branch, Monmouth County. I don't have any of their vital records. Is there both a city death certificate, and a state/county one too? 3. This is a political opinion and not one with which all of us would agree. I respectfully disagree with it and would ask that this sort of opinion not be presented on this list. --- Monmouthhistory@aol.com wrote: > List members, especially those outside New Jersey, should realize there is a > fiscal crises in the State, not merely the current one of balancing the > budget, but a larger matter of elected officials that are afraid to tax to > address revenue needs through taxation. 1. NJ Vital Statistics: Proposed Fee Increase & Rule Changes
    2. Michelle Chubenko
    3. *** TIME SENSITIVE *** NJ Vital Statistics: Proposed Fee Increase & Rule Changes Dear NJ Genealogical Community, As published in the "New Jersey Register" (1), the Bureau of Vital Statistics and Registration has published "Proposed Readoption with Amendments: N.J.A.C. 8:2 for Birth Certificates" and "Proposed New Rules: N.J.A.C. 8:2A" for Death Certificates". You may view the text of these proposals: Birth Records: http://www.state.nj.us/health/rules/njac8_2birth_cert.pdf Death Records: http://www.state.nj.us/health/rules/njac8_2a_death_rec.pdf As part of their "readoption" and "new rules", the Bureau of Vital Statistics is proposing to increase the search fee from $4 to $25. This increase would make NJ one of the most expensive states for vital records. In the US, only 4 states are currently charging $20+ for vital record searches -- MA, NY, OR, and AK. When reviewing the cost for vital records searches in the US, I found the national average is $12... half of the proposed new search fee in NJ. Also, in the "Proposed New Rules: N.J.A.C. 8:2A for Death Certificates" under 8:2A-1.2 Definitions: "Genealogical records" - they have proposed 'Records of death are considered genealogical after 50 years have passed from the date of death.' This is a 10 year increase from the current 40 year restriction. http://www.state.nj.us/health/vital/writein.shtml You are encouraged to send written comments by 3/19/05 to: Joseph A.
