I recently completed research on the surname THATCHER. If anyone would like a copy of the material, I will gladly send it out individually. It's too lengthy to fit onto this NJ site; SORRY! I also have other THATCHER material extracted from other books which place people with that surname in CT, MA and NY, and can send that too if desired. God Bless! I am sending this to both Monmouth and Ocean county, because I was told that in 1776, Monmouth County was huge and included present day Ocean County as well. I am seeking any and all information on Wilson Parker (1776 - 1839) and his wife Rhoda Thorpe (1784 - 1864) daughter of Isaac Thorpe (1764 - 1839). Wilson was born in Monmouth County, as were four of their children - Betsey, Thomas, Wilson, and Isaac. The LDS website indicates that they were married on 15 Nov 1799 in Nelson, Cumberland County, New Jersey. I can find no verification that there is a Nelson in Cumberland County. Wilson and Rhoda are my 4th great grandparents and are also my brick wall. Thanks, Patty
I was trying to send an e-mail to Karen Mason at karenval@mindspring.com and it came back. She was listed on the help list http://users.tellurian.com/freddie/helplist/njh.htm for Monmouth County Historical Society. Does anyone on this list know who else I can contact for help. Thanks, Patty

Is there a City, Village or Town called Nelson in Monmouth County, NJ.?
Re: Dutch Reformed Records You might try familysearch.org then go to batch files and plug in batch number C505721 which is baptisms for the Middletown/Freehold Dutch Reformed Church, all names. I've used the microfilms from which the batch is taken and find the batch file to be accurate for my relations. My brick wall is Wilson Parker (1776 - 1839) born in Monmouth Co., NJ and his wife, Rhoda Thorpe (1784 - 1864) born in New Jersey, the daughter of Isaac Thorpe. Four of their ten children were born in Monmouth Co. NJ also. ( Betsey, Thomas Henry, Wilson Jr., and Isaac Wilson) The family moved from New Jersey to Cayuga Co, NY in 1810, and moved from there to Cortland County, NY in 1819. The 1820 census shows Wilson living in Virgil, Cortland Co., NY. Wilson and Rhoda are buried in Lapeer, Cortland Co., NY on what was the family farm. Any help tearing down my brick wall would be greatly appreciated. Patty

Stephanie, The complete records of the Freehold and Middletown Dutch Reformed Church (1709 through 1851) were published in _The Genealogical Magazine of New Jersey_ in volumes 22 through 26, and 31 through 38. Included are baptisms, marriages, church officers, communicants, and members. Not all records are available for all years. A list of which records are available for each year is contained in my _Monmouth County Articles in The Genealogical Magazine of New Jersey, 1925-2000, Summary & Descriptions_, published in 2001 by the Monmouth County Genealogical Society. For example, the extant records for 1773 are: 1) Baptisms, in GMNJ 31:65-68; 2) Marriages, in GMNJ 35:140; and 3) Communicants, in GMNJ 36:136. Judi Watson

Hi Everyone, Joe has shared this news. It is a good deal and Ancestry won't do anything to bother or harm you. I've used them off and on for a long time and thought that you might like to see this info: Subject: Ancestry's 1920 Census Database Free for 3 Days Hello All, I thought I would pass on that Ancestry is opening their 1920 census database to non- subscribers from June 15-17, 2005. New announcement from the NARA website. National Personnel Records Center (St. Louis, MO) Archival Programs Division The Department of Defense and the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) signed an agreement on July 7, 2004, to make the Official Military Personnel Files a permanent series of records, transferred to NARA custody 62 years after the service member's separation from the military. On June 11, 2005, the Archival Programs Division at the National Personnel Records Center will open the following holdings: * Navy enlisted personnel files for individuals who were separated from the Navy from 1885 through September 8, 1939. * Marine Corps enlisted personnel files for individuals who were separated from the Marine Corps from 1906 through September 8, 1939. * A select collection, approximately 150 at this time, of records of prominent individuals (Persons of Exceptional Prominence) who have been deceased ten years or more. We will add to this initial transfer of records on a regular basis and a listing of these records open to researchers will be made available on this page later this year. The records described above will be open to researchers at this center after June 11, 2005. Written requests for records will initially be processed the same as requests for other military records from NPRC. As new reference procedures are developed they will be published on this web page. -- Pat Connors, Sacramento CA http://www.connorsgenealogy.com All outgoing mail virus free, scanned by ZoneAlarm AntiVirus
