    1. [NJMONMOU] NJMONMOU-D Digest V00 #120
    2. Yvonne - Here is some information on Corles and his wife: This information is in a book by Barbara Carver Smith. There is a copy of it in the Ocean County Bishop Library in Toms River. We are part of the unconnected line of Truex/Truax that she was researching. - Debbie S2. CORLIS STEPHEN TRUEX (David #1; Unknown), was born at Squan Village, Monmouth County ca. 1809, and died 16 July 1864 at Wall Township at the age of 55 of consumption (d.c.), buried in Allenwood cemetery, Allenwood, Monmouth County. His death certificate gives his parents as DAVID and SARAH TRUAX. Corlis married 19 March 1835 at Howell Township by Zebulon Clayton, JP, (Monmouth County Marriage Book C, page 161), CHRISTIAN JOHNSON, born either 1803 (57 at death) or ca. 1807, died 6 November 1860 at Squan Village, Monmouth County (d.c.). The name of her parents is not given in her death record. The marriage record gives Corlis as "Charles L." in error. On 17 July 1846 Samuel Brand and Corlius Treuax, both of Howell Township made leased to Corlius Trueax a parcel of land in Howell Township (same quitclaimed to Samuel Brand by Edward Shearman) for the term of six months from this date doth erect or cause to erect a dwelling for himself and family and occupies the same himself…….(Monmouth County Surrogates Office, Miscellaneous Book C, p 317). The 1850 Federal Census of Howell Township enumerates Corlies Truax, age 40; Christian, 43; Hannah, 12; John 10; Henry, 7; Lydia, 2. Children (TRUEX): · Hannah, born ca. 1836 (19 at marriage), married 10 January 1855 at Wall Township, Peter Brown, son William and Jirma Brown (m.c.) · John, born ca. 1840, married Pheby Ann Mc Ninney · Henry, born 14 December 1843, married Martha M. Harvey · Lydia Ann, born ca. 1846 (18 at marriage), married 25 April 1865 at Toms River to John J. Johnson, son of Joseph and Leticia Johnson. * The headstone is missing at Allenwood Cemetery. No records can be found to show where the burial site is.

    3. Barbara, if you can e-mail me a copy, I would love it. We have Polands in our family. I am curious as to where in Monmouth County they lived. I think some of these may be buried in Glendola Cemeteryin Wall Township. There are some very old Poland graves there.

    1. [NJMONMOU] Stoney (surname) Burial Ground
    2. Ruth
    3. Hi Everyone, My 4th great grandparents' surname was Stoney (Captain Stoney and family). It is documented that there was a Stoney Family Burial Ground. It was located, near the Bedle property, adjacent to what is now Beers Street and Bethany Road, Hazlet, New Jersey. It is around upper Luppatatong Creek, which was called Rock Brook. On the 1851 map, R. Bele was depicted as living on one side of the road and J. Stoney, on the other side. It is my understanding that both the pond that was there and my family burial ground have since been removed. Captain Stoney's house still stands at the corner of Green Grove Avenue, from what I have been told. At present, I cannot physically search for myself; therefore, I need help to determine whether or not the Stoney burial ground is there or not, and if not, I'd like to know where the graves were relocated to. I would sincerely appreciate any input anyone can offer regarding this matter. Thank You, Ruth Sickles, Marcine

    3. You are right I have the book SMITH GRANT and IRONS FAMILIES of New Jersey's Shore Counties Including the Related Families of WILLETS and BIRDSALL Compiled by JAMES W. HOOK 80 Temple St., New Haven 6, Conn. On one of my researches I found a note he had written and he was asking $5.00 then for the book. Now, I 'think' I paid abt.$45.00 to have it printed but it was worth every penny. It was printed by Higginsons. 1. [NJMONMOU] Sylvanus Morris
    2. I am a descendant of Sylvanus Morris. Sylvanus was born in NJ about 1778. The only candidate, I have found, was a reference to Sylvanus Morris in the 1824 will of John Morris of Middletown, Monmouth Co., NJ. He bequests clothing and money to Sylvanus and Samuel who are not residents of Monmouth Co. My Sylvanus lived in Newtown, Queens Co., NY and was associated with Samuel Morris of Newtown. Sylvanus married Jane Rapelye about 1804 and Samuel married Hester Remsen in Newtown soon after. I have not found that proof of the connection between Sylvanus and Samuel Morris to Monmouth Co., NJ Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    1. [NJMONMOU] Dennis surname and West Long Branch cemetery.
    2. I am looking for information on an Andrew J. Dennis who had a daughter named Della E. Dennis born in December 1868. Della married my great grandfather, Ivins C. Van Note in 1887. That is all the information that I have on Della. I believe that this family might be buried in a cemetery in West Long Branch. I cannot remember the name of that cemetery but it is the one that is in front of Shore Regional High School. Is it Glenwood? I know that Della and Ivin's son, my grandfather, Claude Van Note, is buried there. I hope that there is someone out there that can give me a crack in this brick wall. Thank you, Debi
