Belmar area Browns, Newmans, Bennetts, Shaftos Scenerio we are trying to figure out. Help!!! Any one working on Brown's, Bennett, Newman & Shafto families! In 1850 Census Howell Tsp. (Thank you Maggie!) Jeremiah Brown, 53, laborer, $150, NJ., and his son Anthony Brown, 16, fisherman, are living next to the family of John and Jane R. (Newman) Brown. Jeremiah's wife, mother of Anthony is Rebecca Shafto, d/o Anthony and Hannah (Unknown) Shafto. By 1850, Rebecca (Shafto) Brown had died? Who is Jeremiah Brown? He was born about 1797 and married March 16, 1820 Rebecca Shafto, who was born Feb 17, 1799 at Tinton Falls. How did Jeremiah & Anthony come to live near John & Jane Brown? In 1850 Jane (Newman) Brown's sister Elizabeth & her husband Stephen Bennett lived close by too. In 1870 a Carrie Brown, age 3 is hsown with this family of Stephen & Elizabeth Bennett. Who is Carrie? Is there any SHAFTO information that sheds light on the parents or siblings of this Jeremiah Brown? If you have any ideas or suggestions, we would love to hear from you. If you know anyone else working on these families, forward this message. Thanks and we are working hard to try to piece together our early families. Jackie and Bob Davin
I'm sorry to have missed this event; would love to have attended. Can anyone give us the dates for next year so we can put them on our calendars? Thanks. Patty
I am interested in hearing from anyone with a connection to Richard Poole living in Middletown in 1830; his father might have been Thomas Poole. Also interested in learning more about a Richard Poole, a Revolutionary Patriot, who is buried in the Dorset Walling Burial Ground in Middletown. Any connections out there? Mary in Delaware

Hi Lowell, The Green Grove Cemetery information looks great. I know many people will appreciate it. I guess that you are right -- that over the next month or so many folks will be emailing you with revisions and additions. That means more work for you but it also means that it will be one of the biggest, most complete cemetery lists on the internet. You and I are probably 7th cousins somewhere along the line -- I too, have a lot of very old Monmouth County lines including the surnames of Walling and Roberts, Herbert, Dorset, Havens, White, Lippincott, Allen, Taylor and on and on... Best wishes. Joe in CA

Hi All, Sorry I fell behind and missed this note from Ruth. Did you go to the Festival? I was at the Cornish American Heritage Society booth with Ginny Richmond (also on this list). It was a beautiful day. I plan to contact them and see how many people bought tickets....it seemed like a LOT! Hope to see you all there next year........ ROSEHILL CEMETERY, Matawan, NJ - Inscriptions from photos of Gravestones. I have used last name first in order to put these in alphabetical order If there is no carriage return between two names, then both names are inscribed on that stone. Most of these inscriptions are all in uppercase. I have just used uppercase to make finding the last names easier. [Items in brackets are either my comments, or a guess at that part of the inscription]. This is my third posting of names in this cemetery. I will have to wait awhile until my husband takes me again. I will then post any additional information we get. COTTRELL [Crypt] William H. I'm not sure who this Walter was. I have seen the name before. There are two or three Wright strains aroun here. I would not be surprised, however, to find that he was related. It's not one of Duke's kids. The 28th!! Are you daft. That's the holiday weekend. Belmar is bumper to bumper now - never mind on the holiday. They are working on the new bridge over the Shark River on 35. Now why would the state do this in the winter - no the summer so they can mess everything up worse than ever. Yesterday was terrible. Last night we sat out front to watch the benes go home. The speed limit should be 35 - ha, ha. They drive crazy around here so be careful. This is one wedding that I would send a check to myself.
I descend from Osborn(e)s through three different lines (that I know of so far), all connected to Monmouth Co., NJ. I am trying to sort them all out and would therefore like to hear from anyone who connects to any Osborn(e) in Monmouth County from the first Osborn(e)s into the county (Samuel?) through to 1900. Though I have several Osborn(e) and Monmouth Co. reference books, and have copied many pages from other sources, I would very much like to find a copy of a book I believe is titled "ALLEN-OSBORN-POLAND," or something similar to that. If anyone has a copy of this, or know where I can obtain a copy I'd appreciate knowing about it. BTW, I live in Bountiful, UT, just ten minutes from the Family History Library in Salt Lake City, and am happy to do look-ups there in exchange for other information on my OSBORN(E) lines. Many thanks. Carole OSBORNE Cole -- Researching OSBORN(E), BAILEY, ALLEN, HENDRICKSON, FORMAN, SHIBLA, NEWMAN, FULKERSON, DOTY, HAVENS and more . . .
Thanks, I took some pictures for them.

I will be in Belmar for a family wedding on the 28th. Bet the traffic will be a bear. I can remember the first day it was warm enough to sun on the beach....there is nothing like that warm sand in your toes after a long winter. Payphone......my cousin Rachel Bennett remembers going to visit her Uncle Walter Wright out near Hamilton. Her father was Theodore Bennett. His father David Bennett buried at Hamilton. Ring any bells? Jackie once a Jersybel

Good Morning, Relevant to Norman and Debbie's messages. I just feel complelled to jump in and Commend Gary and his wife for their undertaking. Mt. Prospect is an extremely large cemetery and they deserve to be praised for what they are doing. It's a tremendous amount of work and like others, who have done the same for other cemeteries, they should all be highly commended for their efforts. If everyone took just one grave to clean up and document, we would all benefit from it; regardless of who's ancestor it is. When I view some of these "forgotten cemeteries," it breaks my heart to know that someone's ancestors are hidden under the weeds and rubbish. Again, to Gary, his wife and all of the others who have dedicated themselves to all of our ancestors, please know that your efforts are appreciated. Sincerely, Ruth Sickles, Marcine
Hi, I have WFT Vol 5 and found Eveline Ketchum. There is quite a bit of info and as I have Carpel Tunnel and have trouble typing I prefer not to send this to you via computer. If you would like I would be happy to copy it and send by snail mail if no one else answers your request. Trish/Oregon Trish2Ann@aol.com
Hi Norman, If your question was for me, the people that took over restoration of Mt. Prospect cemetery, are now in the process of putting all of the cemetery records into a database. Gary Crawford is the President, and his wife is the one working on loading the database. Here is the website. http://homestead.juno.com/crawsat/mtproscem.html Debbie
What our connect is that Marmaduke Wright married an Ada Hopkins. One of their daughter's, Dorothy married a Keim. It was a second marriage for one or the other dont' remember which. Apparently, from what I can gather he already had children who were Keims. I never have been able to find any of these children of Duke and Ada or any grandchildren, etc. The grandchildren would have been young in the 40's. Cousin Bill Poland remembers going to the Armory is Asbury Park to play with them. His grandmother, my husband's Aunt Helen Wright Poland use to bring them. Duke was the chief armorer there. Bill and Carol Poland are also Norman's first cousins on his mother's side. The reason I would love to find them is that I have some letters and pictures of Duke that he sent to his father in Sykesville during WWI. I think they should be shared. You would have loved Belmar today. 90 degrees and no fees at the beach. Everyone, his brother and his uncle was out getting sunburnt and they have not been out before this year. The kite festival was this weekend. Traffic was unbearable.
Who is in the process of organizing the records? It is my understanding that they were destroyed in a fire in the church? The reason I would like to know is that there is a Wright grave there with no dates and no names on it and we are missing some people (what else). And plus we live not too far from there.
