    3. There were no McMulkin in the 1880 Census for NJ but there were some Mulken. Perhaps they dropped the MC off the name. This is what I found. By the way sometimes people will not respond when your request is too broad. A single first name and census year a day is appropriate. 3. I just finished transcribing about two thousand records from Holmdel Cemetery (published with gravestone photographs as usual) including the graves of two who perished Sep 11, 2001 at the World Trade Center - Robert L. Horohoe, jr. & Matthew Picerno: http://distantcousin.com/cemetery/nj/monmouth/holmdel/ This represents I think a little more than half of all grave with markers excluding the mausoleums. ===== Sincerely, David Podmajersky, Webmaster DistantCousin.com Spread the word. 1. [NJMON] Dickenson, Monmouth County
    2. I am looking for Nathaniel Dickenson who was born in Monmouth about 1775, he married Sarah Burdge who was born about 1779 also in Monmouth. They were married on May 14, 1797 in Monmouth. Strong possibility that Nathaniel died prior to 1836, as Sarah may have been known as the Mrs. Dickenson (widow) at Howell Works. Sarah Burdge's parents were: John Burdge born about 1745 in Monmouth and passed before 1830 in Monmouth. Her mother was Mary VanNote born about 1750 and having died sometime after 1830. Is there a list other than on Ancestry.com of men who served in the War of 1812. I haven't been able to locate either of them in a cemetery yet, or in census records that I've been able to find. Any thoughts or directions would be appreciated. Thanks! dottie

    3. Dear pat, I believe the best bet for you to get a copy of the will would be at the New Jersey State Archives in Trenton New Jersey. I will check around in my files and see if I can dig up the address to order it online. Meanwhile maybe some good person will come up with the address for you. Gail Stillings-Murphy

    1. [NJMON] Introduction
    2. John R. Clarke
    3. Hi, I am looking for NJ connections to a DANIEL family that possibly migrated, first to NC and second to GA, after the Revolution. I am especially looking for a Robert C. DANIEL (about 1765-after 1830) who migrated from NC to Burke County, GA in 1812. They may have been DANIEL, McDANIEL, O'DANIEL or even McDONALD. They may have been Quakers, but not necessarily so. There should be POTTER, TILTON, HARTSHORNE, WHITE, STOCKTON and possibly BEDLOE, BOLTON, HARKER, WHITEHEAD, EVANS, CLARK, TATUM and other families that were part of the "island trading community" between St. Croix, Barbados, Bermuda, NJ, NYC and Maryland in the pre-RW period. None of these families were share croppers and they were all well educated, professionals... John R. 3. ------ Forwarded Message From: Tom Gregory <[email protected]> Date: Sat, 07 Sep 2002 20:05:27 -0600 To: [email protected] Subject: {not a subscriber} How to get photocopy of original will dated 7 October 1696 I would like to obtain a photocopy of the original deed mentioned below. It contains the earliest reference by almost 40 years- to the Conrey surname that I have found in Monmouth County. I have seen two abstracts of this deed. One abstract was in _Monmouth County New Jersey Deeds, Books A, B, C._ , by Richard S. Hutchinson. The other is from an individual's website which was copied from a book on a different surname. In April, I wrote: Clerk of Court, Freehold, Monmouth County, New Jersey including a SASE, but received no response on what to do to get a photocopy. The Secretary of State, Trenton, New Jersey is also suppose to have a copy. I have not written them. I plan on doing so, but thought I would ask for advice first. What is the cheapest procedure for getting a photocopy of this deed from either/both places? (I am in Seattle and cannot visit Freehold or Trenton myself.) Thank you, Tom PS Will either Trenton or Freehold photocopy or allow photocopying of a 1696 era deed? from a website- not Mr Hutchinson book: Deeds from office of Secretary of State, Trenton, New Jersey. marked (T) below, and from office of Clerk of Court, Freehold, Monmouth County, New Jersey marked (F) below: * (T) Book 5, p. 15; (F) Book C, page 171, October 7, 1696: "John Hampton [Hamton], of town of Freehold, ... to Benjamin Borden [Burden], of Middletown, planter. Whereas Peter Soumens [Soumans], one of the Proprietors of ye said province, had a tract of meadow lying in said County and Town of Freehold, Grant patented to him May 10, 1688... on Burlington Path, joining Jedediah Allen's land ... to Robert Barclay's corner ... to Manalapan Brooke ... nr. land of some of ye Shrewsbury folk ... to head of Manasaquan Brook ... conveyed to George Keith August 5, 1690, and by him to John Hampton [Hamton], October, 25, 1693. John Reid ... seized of a certain tract adjoining said tract ... about 500 acres ... (plus) 60 acres. One of these three tracts adjoins "CONREY's meadow at head of Manasquan Brook", another adjoining land of Clemen [Clemment]" The bracketed [ ] surname is the way the surname is spelled in Mr Hutchinson's book. ------ End of Forwarded Message
