    1. [NJMON] DELITE WINANS
    2. Lanzaro, Lawrence R MONMOUTH ITS
    3. I am trying to locate my cousin, DELITE WINANS, who was born around 1941. Delite's parents were Russell and Frances (Cook) Winans. They lived in Essex County (Newark and/or Belleville) and Monmouth County (Freehold). I don't know if Delite married, so her last name may no longer be Winans. If anyone knows of Delite or the Winans family, please contact me at [email protected] ...Louise Lanzaro Peterson

Topics of the day: 3. Preserving Photographs / Genealogical Society of New Jersey ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Date: Tue, 5 Nov 2002 22:44:10 -0500 From: Albert King Subject: Preserving Photographs / Genealogical Society of New Jersey Preserving photographs is the focus of the Genealogical Society of New Jersey's annual meeting and fall lecture to be held in New Brunswick on Saturday, November 9th. This event, which is free and open to the public, will be held in the Rutgers University Student Center (126 College Avenue, Room 411) beginning at 11:15 a.m. After a brief business meeting, Monmouth County Archivist Gary Saretzky will speak on the topic "Before They Fade: Preserving Your Family Photographs." Among his other photography-related activities, the speaker is a member of the Photo Materials Group of the American Institute for Conservation and has frequently provided consultative services, lectured, and written on the topic of photographic conservation. In his presentation, Saretzky will explain why photographs deteriorate; recommend steps necessary to preserve family photograph collections, including both older types of photographs and digital images; and provide useful tips for photo conservation. Attendees are encouraged to bring samples from their own collections for discussion. Funding for the Genealogical Society of New Jersey's annual meeting has been provided, in part, through a General Operating Support grant-in-aid received from the New Jersey Historical Commission. ------------------------------ End of NJ_HISTORY Digest - 4 Nov 2002 to 5 Nov 2002 (#2002-289) *************************************************************** -- Michelle Tucker Chubenko ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Ukraine WorldGenWeb Country Coordinator: http://www.rootsweb.com/~ukrwgw/index.html NJGenWeb: Genealogical Calendar of Events http://mywebpages.comcast.net/famhist/calendar.htm OKGenWeb County Coordinator: Adair Co.: http://www.rootsweb.com/~okadair/adaircty.htm Cherokee Co.: http://www.rootsweb.com/~okchero2/index.htm USGenWeb Archives - Oklahoma: Adair Co.: http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/ok/adair/adair.html Michelle's Home Page: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~mchub/shell.htm History & Images of Carteret, NJ http://freepages.history.rootsweb.com/~mchub/carteret/

    2. Sherlock CD
    3. I am looking for an online transcription for First Methodist-Episcopal Church Cemetery in Jacobstown but I have not been able to find anything anywhere. Does anyone know if thats what it would be called?? My Great Grandmother Emily Kants is buried there and I would like to see if any other family might be there i.e. Alexander Kants She was buried there in 1975. If anyone can tell me anything like what county that cemetery is in or if it was called something else. __________________________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? 1. Re: [NJMON] Any Brick Wall Ideas?
    2. Did you get the marriage license/certificate from the second marriage and see if it listed her as divorced or widowed? If divorced then the 1st hubby probably moved on somewhere and you can keep searching. If she's a widow, you have to check the undertakers reports to the state on burials to find him. I don't know about NYC but I found out that in Phila. for decades before they issued death certificates, the undertaker had to report a "grave opening" and those were filed with the state. They are in the state archives here. Probably something similar in NY. At least it's an avenue to work on til you think of something better <LOL> Beth Cherkowsky [email protected] or [email protected] Researching genealogy for: Donahue/Donohue, Bradley, Forrester, Cherkowsky/Cerkauskus, Fountas, Barrett, Burke, Manning/Mannion/Mangan, Bridgeman in Delaware, Penna. 1. [NJMON] Any Brick Wall Ideas?
    2. Linda L. Kakos
    3. I have hit a "brick wall", does anyone have any ideas? I have a ggrandfather (LaCour) born in 1843 in NYC. I cannot find anything about his father (Wiliam Lacour or LaCour). I know his mother remarried (in NJ) a few years after he was born. I have checked the FHL microfilm for death register in NYC for these dates (1842-1849), nothing. Do I just give up and consider him lost or do I have another avenue to investigate? Any suggestions would be most appreciated. Thanks. Linda La Cour
