Can anyone do a lookup in the DAR Patriot Index on rather sketchy information (not enough to approach the DAR with an official request)? I am looking for a man whose last name was Lyon; I don't know his first name, but a relative who is also looking into this family says it's "extremely distinctive." He won't tell me what the name is, or the name of the man's wife. However, Mr. Lyon apparently was born in Fairfield, CT and served in the units of both Connecticut and New Jersey during the war. Around 1796 he and his family moved to Bedminster Township, Somerset County, New Jersey, and apparently remained there the rest of their lives. Again according to my relative, the couple lived into their 80s (making their deaths maybe in the 1820s or 30s) and died a year apart. If this is the correct family, they are also the parents of a daughter named Hannah Lyon, born about 1780, who later married a man named Richard Groves. I hope these are enough clues for someone to help me, since my relative is clamming up! Thanks, Nancy
