    1. [NJMID] Rev. WOODBRIDGE, Woodbridge, NJ, MOORE's, 1600's

    3. Hello, In my attempt to find out more about the extended family of Francis MOORE of 1600's Cambridge, MA, I had already found out that two of his sons ended up in Woodbridge, NJ. This morning, I tried to find out more about Woodbridge, NJ, and the town's web site offered a "brief history" saying that it was "the oldest township" and that it was named after .. Rev. John WOODBRIDGE of Newbury, MA. Probably in the 1650's, Samuel MOORE and Matthew MOORE left Cambridge, MA, and moved to Newbury, MA. Their father, Francis MOORE, had a large mansion and farm in Cambridge, MA, but his sister, Mrs. Sarah (MOORE) GREENLEAF and her husband had settled in early Newbury, MA. I read that Samuel and Matthew and their families probably moved to NJ in 1666. Some of their siblings remain unaccounted for, and I am wondering if any of them went to NJ with them. I am also wondering if Rev. John WOODBRIDGE possibly gathered many families from his Parish in Newbury, MA, and they all moved to NJ together. I am limited to research I can do with the Internet, and have not been successful in finding out about books and articles written about Francis MOORE of Cambridge, MA. However, I changed my tactics this morning, and did a Google search for his father, Enoch MOORE, and was more successful. By doing this I have found out that there was a book published about Francis MOORE, but I don't find any other references to it. My main research is the KIDDER name (9 years), and the patriarch, James KIDDER, married Anna MOORE, daughter of Francis MOORE. They probably married in Cambridge, MA, in 1649, and moved to Billerica, MA, ~1656. They had 12 children. As far as on-line research goes, there were a dozen or more MOORE men in the 1600's MA Bay Colony, and people only seem to be "guessing" as to whether they were related or not. Several of them only remained in MA for a few years before moving to other states, like NY and CT. Thank you for your time.
