Hi! I'm new on this list and now wonder if I'm on the right one! My son's ancestor, Jesse EDWARDS was the second husband of Catherine BEEKMAN, daughter of Christopher BEEKMAN and Sarah COX Catherine was born in 1742 'Near Princeton'. Catherine's brother William BEEKMAN served in the Rev. War and indicated that he was born in 1755 in NJ 'about 2 miles from Germantown.' (From Vernon White's 'Abstracts of Rev. War Pension Files,' pg 215.) Catherine BEEKMAN married John SKILLMAN in 1763. John died in 1776 in VA, and she married Jesse EDWARDS, born 1754-56. (No that's not a typo, she was 13 years older than Jesse.) Jesse EDWARDS served as a Cpl. and Pvt. in the 2nd NJ Regt. in the Rev. War. He served as a Cpl. in the 4th NJ Regt. He also served as a Pvt. in Ogden's NJ Regt. (This is acording to Vernon White's Index to Rev. War Service Records, pg 847. Should I have signed up for the county that Princeton, NJ was near in the year 1742? (Was that Middlesex Co.?) Or should I have signed up for the email list of the county that Princeton, NJ is now located in? I don't have a map for 1742, so I don't know where the county boundries were, or where Princeton was located at that time. I just have a 1790 map, and it isn't at all detailed. Can someone clarify this for me?? Thanks, Joanne at erictem@earthlink.net
