    3. Hello Middlesex County Genealogists, Welcome to the new Middlesex County Mailing List. We now have close to 60 members. My name is Glenn Geisheimer and I am the owner of the list, (my email address is at the bottom). I have lived in Woodbridge Township for the past 43 years. As many of you know the old Middlesex County Web Site was neglected for at least the past 6 months. The owner disappeared. I had to start the site over again from scratch. During the next few weeks I'll use the mailing list to explain different parts of the site. Of course, any questions you have about the site or the list please feel free to email me about them. The first part of the site I would like to discuss is the Query Page. Middlesex County is the first county in New Jersey to use the GenConnect system. GenConnect is almost completely automated and you, the user, can post your queries and see them immediately. The only thing that I have to do is update the surname list. The system is then tied into the main GenConnect web site where you can search other GenConnect sites around the world for your surnames. In addition to that, once a week, the Surname Helper robot comes to the site and "harvests" the surnames for their site. You will find connections to both the GenConnect site and the Surname Helper site on the Queries Page of the Middlesex County Web Site. At the Surname Helper site you can reach an even larger area for your search. Some of the searches on both sites are redundant so you can have your choice of which interface you like to use. Again both the GenConnect site and the Surname Helper site allows you to reach the entire world. Again, I urge everyone to post their surnames on the Middlesex County Web Site. One additional note, I also host the "Virtual Newark, New Jersey" Web Site. You can find out about the history (Reverends) of Newark Churches through 1870. As I have time I will bring that date closer to today. Also, I have a listing and information on Newark Cemeteries and the changing street names. The newest addition is a story about Potter's Cemetery and how, allegedly, someone allowed 70,000 graves to be paved over and forgotten. Ok, one more thing. The Middlesex Site now has photos from the First Presbyterian Church of Woodbridge Cemetery. Thanks, Glenn G.
