Thanks for prompt reply. I suspect this is another example of an erroneous genealogy and submission to FHC. Robert Charles Anderson, in "The Great Migration Begins", Vol 3 pages 1687-1689 (NEHGS 1995), has a segment on John Smalley, including the conclusion that John's origin is unknown, including his birthplace and birth data. Incidentally, there is also some other erroneous data involving the Smalley family, in various publications. I would be happy to look over what you have is you wish to send it to me.
