Alexander WEISS, b. ~1872 in Hungary d. ~1915? m. Rose BROWN, b. ~1876 in America d. ~1902 in childbirth? * daughter, name N/A, institutionalized on LI at age 12-13, epilepsy (died in institution in her 30s?) * (Sarena) Sadie WEISS, b. June 29, 1902 in 1902 (my gm) m. Sidonia WEISS (they were cousins) (when Alexander died, Sidonia married Julius BOEHM) According to family legend, Alexander WEISS was the proprietor of a general store in Fords sometime between 1902-1915 or so. He was also (I am told) a beer salesman and a shirtwaistmaker at various times previously, and he traveled on business and played around quite a bit. His family was not enamoured of him. [How would I track down business licenses or other records? Is there somewhere in the area to write to?] Sarena Sadie WEISS attended school in the area. [Are there any school records available from pre-1915?] The WEISS family was Jewish; I don't know about the BROWN family. [Is there a Jewish cemetery in the area, esp one that was likely to be used by the Hungarian community?] My helpful hints haven't actually panned out for me yet, but they are interesting resources.
