June Johnston, 85, died Friday, June 30, 2000, at Plumas District Hospital. She was born May 29, 1915, in New Brunswick, N.J. She had been a Plumas County resident for the past 49 years, residing in Cromberg from 1946-1991, moving there from Los Altos. June was a secretary for the State of California for 10 years. She was a member of Christ the King Episcopal Church of Quincy, serving as their organist for a number of years. An avid snow skier, she and her late husband were instrumental in the development of the Ski Hill and the organization of the Plumas Ski Club. June served as a 4-H adviser for over 20 years, and was a longtime member and served as president of the Quincy Emblem Club. She also enjoyed golf and bowling. June was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley, in 1986; one brother and one sister. She is survived by her daughter, Alice Parlier of Cromberg. Following cremation at Fehrman Crematory, a celebration of her life and potluck will be held Saturday, Aug. 5, at 1 p.m. at Gasner Park in Quincy. The family requests any donations in her memory be made to either the Plumas County Animal Shelter, PAWS or High Sierra Animal Rescue, c/o Fehrman Mortuary and Crematory, P.O.
