Listers: I am trying to locate the estate of the Provoost family on Raritan Bay. Its other name is "RUDYARD" Someone has said it is no longer there. Others have said the parkland is now a park along the Bay, but inside Perth Amboy city limits. I have written to Perth Amboy Public Library.NO ANSWER, I have written to the County Clerk, because the land was by NJ state grant, they must have a record of it back in Rev. War days. NO ANSWER What suggestions do you have for me? I do not have internet access, only JUNO. I live 3000 miles from NJ. I am trying to locate the land and the mansion, and the history thereof, BECAUSE on that land, right next to the mansion(which is probably not there any longer) is a family graveyard, and at least 2 Mausoleums. They don't move easily, so where are they now?? Who else could I write (Snail or Email) and hopefully get some answers????Does this county have a historical society? If so, could I have an address, or e-mail address for them? Do you think they would even take the time to reply? I am getting more and more frustrated with New Jersey. Please, can you help?
