Here was located in it's early days St. Peter's Episcopal Church, which was afterwards in 1738 taken down, removed to Freehold Village, and re-erected on the site it now (1906) occupies. Rev. George Keith, at first a Scotch Presbyterian, afterward a Quaker, and subsequently an Episcopalian, was among the first to conduct services in Old Topanemus."- History of Old Tennent Church" by Symmes, p. 256.
