NJ Query Forum Board URL: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/NJ/Middlesex?read=1071 Surname: ------------------------- Don't know if this will help at all since most STELLE names were earlier than your timeframe >From the PISCATAWAY RECORDS--The first marriage recorded by a "Minister of the Gospel" was on 5 Aug. 1714 by Mr JOHN DRAKE, whose services are occasionally referred to thereafter until 1737 The successor of Mr. DRAKE in 1739 was Benjamin STELLE, of French parentage but born in New York abt 1683. He died in January 1759. His son ISAAC STELLE, continued to officiate for nearly 23 years after the death of his father (BENJAMIN). ISAAC STELLE died on Oct 9, 1781 , in his 63rd year. The Rev. REUNE RUNYON succeeded Mr. STELLE in 1783 having been called to the ministry in 1771. Mr RUNYON died in Nov. 1811, having been assisted by HENRY SMALLEY At present I have not identified BENJAMIN STELLE with MERCY STELLE. The will of a JOSEPH FITZRANDOLPH dated JUN 25, 1745 in Piscataway Middlesex Co. NJ memtions an Executor as ISAAC STELLE and a witness as BENAJMIN STELLE.
