Surnames: MARAS, MARES, KILLEEN, HOOD Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.newjersey.counties.middlesex/4085/mb.ashx Message Board Post: MARY PAULINE MARAS/MARES was born in Slovakia around 1903 or a earlier. She married CHRISTOPHER S. KILLEEN, b. in Newark, Essex County, NJ (copy of marriage certificate has still not been found). They had two daughters, LILLIAN ANNE KILLEEN, b. in Newark, Essex County, NJ in 1920 and MARY C. KILLEEN, b. in Orange, Essex County, NJ in 1923. CHRISTOPHER S. KILLEEN, died in 1935 in Orange, Essex County, NJ. By 1940, LILLIAN ANNE, who went by her middle name of ANNE, was married to an unknown HOOD (marriage date unknown)and residing in Long Branch, Monmouth County, NJ. Her sister, MARY C. KILLEEN, age 16 in 1940, was living in South River, Middlesex County, NJ. I can only assume that MARY C. was living with her widowed mother, MARY PAULINE (MARAS/MARES)KILLEEN, re-married mother or her mother, along with her grandparent/grandparents MARAS/MARES in South River. I still have not located where the MARAS/MARES may have resided. I don't have given names for MARY PAULINE (MARAS/M! ARES)KILLEEN's parents or birth dates, other then they were both born in Slovakia, later the borders were changed to become Austria. It was rumored that they had a small farm of sorts in North Jersey, but I haven't found any evidence of its existence. I don't know if MARY PAULINE had any siblings. I have checked census records and immigration records for MARAS/MARES, but only one possibility came up in the latter. However, their final destination was New York State.
That would be WONDERFUL!! Thanks. Petroski might have a varying spelling. One or two Petroski brothers apparently married two Kaczorowski sisters. There was an Ed Petroski who might have owned a paint shop in S.R. Not sure if Ed was one, but his name is mentioned frequently in our family. Somewhere in this clan, there is a "Tillie." Not sure where she fits in, but she does. Tillie was definitely alive in April 2002 but not sure about today. Anyone with leads, please contact me. Thank you, Kim
