    1. Crysey family?
    2. Aprille C. McKay
    3. Hi, I don't know about Henry, but I'm looking for the family of a Stephen Crysey (Crissey, Chrissie, etc.) who was supposedly of Rockland Co., NY when he married Fanny Morse (Marsh) on Nov 15, 1815. She was married in Rahway, but her first husband's family had been prominent in Perth Amboy. Could he be a part of this family too? Rockland Co. is just across the NJ border. 2. Hi Louise, I didn't find an email address anywhere, but I left a "what were you thinking?" kind of note in the guest book and asked that they come up with another plan. Who knows? Maybe somebody reads those things. I left it at www.familytreemaker.com. I am sure, however, that somebody there reads these lists and if we shout and holler enough, they will hear, and come up with another payment option. It is a sorry thing that they are trying to sell a service and don't give people ways to buy it. This said, it really is a terrific opportunity for researchers, especially those like yourself at a distance from research centers. These appear to be scanned articles and documents, and so are secondary sources and should be used with the care all secondary sources require - verify, verify! As an example, though, of what folks can hope to find there - in no time flat, I found 20 names of ancestors and in-laws who were New Jersey Wagonmasters in the Revolutionary War. Me, I call this progress. Best to all, Doris Lane

I am sorry for the inconvenience of those who were unable to connect, but if you can't get there from here, please search Family Tree Maker and tell them, not me, okay? For any serious researcher, this site is worth the trouble, I promise. Good luck to all, Doris Lane

    1. Re: Smalley
    2. Harman Clark
    3. As we wrote before, Samuel Blackford probably had two wives; the second, who was probably the mother of his children, being named Anna. Her surname could have been Smalley, but she was not the daughter of John and Ann (Walden/Waldron) Smalley. Their daughter on 23 June 1660/61 married John Bangs, son of Edward and Lydia (Hicks) Bangs. See "The Great Migration Begins" by Robert Charles Anderson (NEHGS 1995), Vol. 3, page 1689. [While I am sure Mr. Anderson would admit to not being perfect, he is among the leading genealogists of today]. In addition to daughter Providence (who m. Peter Runyon), Samuel and Anna Blackford had other children, among them a daughter Anna Blackford. Anna married (1) Benjamin Manning, (2) Joseph Drake, and (3) Isaac Drake. [See "Who was Hannah Blackford" by Oliver D. Drake, in GMNJ 41:129-131 (1966), reprinted in Genealogies of N.J. Families (Geneal. Pub. Co. 1996), Vol. 1 page 132]. As Oliver Drake points out, her name was Anna but her father, in his will on 12 Feb. 1711/12, called Anna, Hanna -- probably to distinguish her from her mother, who was Anna. So, who was the wife of Samuel Blackford (and mother of his children) -- somebody named Anna. She could have been a Smalley, but she wasn't the daughter of John and Ann (Walden) Smalley, according to the most reliable sources I have seen. Extract from a letter written by Robert Smalley All of them are very long. Now I have aquestion, Peter Runyon married Providence Blackford and her father is suppose to be Samuel Blackford, who did Samuel marry since it wasn't Hannah Smalley? Until later, Roberta.

    2. Hi Harman, I just returned from sending you the paper published by Matthew F. Smalley. I will go thru all my reference papers and let you know who else I have. I have a comment to make on Hannah Smalley. Over the weekend am going to reread all my papers and find who wrote that Hannah was married twice. First she married Samuel Blackford and had 10 children by him. Then she married John Bangs and they had no children. Right now I can't tell you what paper I found that in and it might be wrong. Have been so busy with other lines I haven't doubled checked any of this information. Will let you know what I find. Until later, Roberta

    1. Crusan
    2. Where'd they come from, Garret and Benjamin? Garret Crusan and Benjamin Crusan both lived and paid taxes in Westmoreland County PA in 1786. Garret was born about 1755 and died in April, 1830. He married Rebecca (surname assumed to be Mitchell) around 1787/8. Crusan family tradition says that Benjamin was Garret's father. But was he? And where did they live before Westmoreland County PA? Bucks County? Philadelphia? Staten Island NY? Somerset or Middlesex County NJ? Where? Any advice or information would be most appreciated. Doris Lane

    1. Re: Abigail Potter
    2. Harman, I don't have the parents of Abigail Potter who married Joseph Booraem in 1797. She lived in Matchaponix; died in Jamesburg, NJ, April 11, 1865; and was buried in Spotswood. In the Kidd Bible and in a gen/hist book it says she was 100 years old, but that means she married late and had a daughter at age 48....possible, but not probable. I haven't found her in an 1850 or 1860 census, maybe because her age has led me astray? I have an 1850 Monroe, NJ, census with a 70yo Abigail Booraem living with a Nicholas Booraem, 40yo; Jane Booraem, 46; Thomas Parke, 33, born Ireland; Jane Parke, 23, born Ireland; and Margaret. I'm not sure if this Nicholas is the one born 1807 to Joseph and Abigail. Anyone know? I have Booraem and Kidd sources on my web page, including the Kidd and Boorum Bibles. Maybe you can find clues and connections that I don't have! :) http://members.aol.com/RLCww/index.htm ---Robin

    2. Harman Clark
    3. Thanks for prompt reply. I suspect this is another example of an erroneous genealogy and submission to FHC. Robert Charles Anderson, in "The Great Migration Begins", Vol 3 pages 1687-1689 (NEHGS 1995), has a segment on John Smalley, including the conclusion that John's origin is unknown, including his birthplace and birth data. Incidentally, there is also some other erroneous data involving the Smalley family, in various publications. I would be happy to look over what you have is you wish to send it to me. Joseph second wife Elizabeth Crow children: Lewis Drakeb. 1766, Isabella Drake, Jane, Elizabeth, John b. 1776 . Additions and corrections welcome." I have quite a different ancestry for the Joseph Drake who married Catherine Cheesman (daughter of William and Martha Cheesman), and am sending it to you in a separate message with an attached file [attached files are not supposed to be put on the rootsweb lists so I will send it separately]. 2. Heider, Bryan
    3. Robin (RLCww@aol.com), I too am researching the Booraem family of Middlesex county. Joseph Booraem was baptised on June 9, 1771 at the Six-Mile Run Dutch Reformed Church. His parents were Nicholas Booraem & Jannetje xxx Elizabeth Booraem, who married James Connet on September 4, 1814 was the sister of my ancestor Jonathan Booraem Jonathan Booraem was baptised on November 2, 1782 in the New Brunswick Reformed Dutch Church. His parents were Nicholas Booraem & Mercy Rolfe. I am not sure if Joseph's father was the same as Jonathan's....still looking. In Jonathan's will he mentions his sister Elizabeth Connet and a son Henry H. Booraem. Let's compare notes. Brian Heider
