Hi all, This is my first posting to this list. I've been tracing my paternal ancestors through western PA, and find that they travelled to PA from NJ in the mid to late 1780s. Jacob STEWART married Eunice Edith DUNN in Middlesex Co, and the first couple of children were born to them in South Amboy, Middlesex Co, NJ before they moved to Westmoreland Co, PA, settling in first in Wheatfield, and then Fairfield Twp. Eunice Edith DUNN was the daughter of Benjamin DUNN, who married an Edith DAVIS on March 28, 1758 in Piscataway, Middlesex Co, NJ. Jacob STEWART was said to be the son of a Charles and Mary STEWART. Is anyone researching the DUNN family that might know who Benjamin's father was? Thanks. Diann Olsen
Does anyone know where I could find information on my ggf, Alexander WEISS, and his family? He was the proprietor of the general store in Fords somewhere between 1902 and 1915. TIA, //Corin Barsily Goodwin Cupertino, CA
I am looking for anyone with the NORMAN surname either before or after marriage. Would like to add more branches to my family tree. Please e-mail me if you are a Norman and we can see if we connect. Thanks Barbara
Looking for information on Josephine Luster Gulick (1858-1943) who married William Howard Gulick (1855-1908). They did not have children. Josephine's family was from Elizabeth, Union, NJ, and William's was from Middlesex county; after their marriage they lived in Kingston, Middlesex county. After William's death, Josephine moved back to Elizabeth and became involved with the Daughters of the American Revolution. The DAR library has a typed transcript of Josephine's Bible from 1920s, but not photocopies of the original, so only names matching the cutoff dates are included. Names include Luster, Yates, Jefferys, Clark, etc. Anyone know anything more about this Bible or the family? Thanks! ---Robin http://members.aol.com/RLCww/index.htm www.rootsweb.com/~njunion

During the nineteenth century there were two people by the name of NELSON PETTY,living in Middlesex county. The younger Nelson Petty was born 22 October 1856, son of DAVID PETTY born 2 April, 1812. I need information on David Pettys birth location, parents, etc. Also need on the older Nelson. The only information I have is from an old book on New Jersey by-ways which tells about him living in Cranbury in a haunted house and dying in his bathtub! Iam assuming the younger Nelson, my husbands grandfather, was named after the older one ,and probably was a relation. Shirley Eliot Dunn Petty

Hello, cousin, sorta! My Middlesex county name that I'm researching is BOORAEM. Henry H Booraem (1811-1879) married Maria Van Liew (1812-1896). They had Garret Van Liew Booraem (1833-1886), Mary Elizabeth Booraem (1836-1866) and Sarah Booraem (1839-). I don't know who Maria's parents were. Do you? There is a Van Liew cemetery, I think in New Brunswick, NJ. ---Robin http://members.aol.com/RLCww/index.htm www.rootsweb.com/~njunion

I'm new to this list and am researching my VAN LIEW and related ancestors in Middlesex County. My gggrandfather was Rev John C. VAN LIEW, born 2 Jan 1807, who married Mary Adeline (van) WAGNER in 1829, but I'm not sure where or exactly when. They show up on the NJ 1860 Census, living in New Brunswick, but I can't find them anywhere after that date. I believe Mary VAN LIEW died 19 Oct 1863, but I don't know about Rev. John C. I'm pretty sure he was the son of Johannes (John) VAN LIEW and Magdalena WYCKOFF, who married 21 Nov 1780. "The Van Liew Genealogical and Historical Record," by W. Randolph Van Liew, lists a Rev. John Cannon VAN LIEW as their son. However, a list of members of the Dutch Church at New Brunswick shows a John Cameron VAN LIEW a few lines above "Mary Adeline VAN LIEW, wife of Rev. John C. VAN LIEW." Does anyone know what this Rev. John C. VAN LIEW's middle name actually was - Cannon or Cameron? And was the Rev. John C. VAN LIEW who married Mary Adeline (van) WAGNER, actually the son of John VAN LIEW and Magdalena WYCKOFF? I would appreciate any help anyone can give me. Thanks, Jean M Foster jeanfoster@uky.campus.mci.net
Would anyone have any information on persons with the surname Huelsman/Hülsmann in Middlesex County? According to the SSDI, an Erich Huelsman (born 1895, died 1975) was last resident in South Amboy. He may have been the nephew of my great-grandfather. I've ordered both his death certificate and his Social Security application, but am still waiting for these to arrive. I seek the descendants of my great-gradnfather's nephew. Thanks Alan Furchtenicht furcht@macc.wisc.edu
Hi rooters! I am researching the above surnames. Does anyone know these surnames? Be glad to share all my info. for yours. Thanks. Kelly Kerr
Hello Everyone, I am working with a Coombs cousin trying to unravel our Coombs line. Last week she went to Trenton and we believe she found a connection between the COMBS family and Matilda HULIT daughter of George Hulit of East Windsor. George died in 1815 and we found a reference that said the estate was not settled until 1837. Our theory is that Abner COMBS married Matilda HULIT about 1816. Our problem is that Trenton Archives does not have the reference we need and they were not able to tell us where to find it. I am hoping some one more experienced with NJ records can help! It is called Middlesex County NJ Heirs to Estates from Partitions and Divisions filed at New Brunswick--1780--1870, the file numbers are #9532 and #9533. Perhaps further complicating this is these people lived in East Windsor which was Middlesex and is now Mercer. This has been the toughest line for our family for years so I would greatly appreciate any advice or guidance! We are desperate to find this reference! Thank you for your time! Kathy
Just getting into researching my family tree. I have a good start in that I have a family Bible from my grandmother's side of the family. It is the Dunham Bible. Looking for Daniel Heath Dunham whose was born (November 20, 1849) in Basking Ridge, lived in East Orange. Was president of Fireman's Insurance. He died November 17, 1924. Any information you might have on Dunham would be appreciated. I have a lot of Dunham names but cannot connect them to anyone. gail taylor
Does anyone on the list know how I would find out information about the Baptist church records in Highstown NJ, I presume it must have been or still is in Middlesex County, as the will that mentions the church was in Middlesex County. Please contact bows@bellsouth.net thanks, sharon
Have now (July 98) learned that SAMUEL MCFARSON b. April 4, 1709 possibly in Piscataway, Middlesex Co. NJ --d. Sept 1772 in Kingwood Twp. Hunterdon co. NJ was father of JOHN MCFARSON b. 1736 probably in Piscataway NJ. and 7 others who all came to Kingwood Twp. Need information on wife or parents of SAMUEL MCFARSON b. 1709.-d. 1772. Also trying to find information on a grandson of SAMUEL MCFARSON named JOHN MCFARSON. In the 1785 will of SAMUEL's son JOHN he mentions 5 "older children and ELIZABETH and her 2 sons NATHAN and ZACHARIAH" It is not clear if this ELIZABETH is JOHN's b. 1738 daughter-in-law, (wife of a son JOHN who was already desceased) or a second wife to the JOHN b. 1738 that is son of SAMUEL b. 1709. It is not clear if SAMUEL was born in NJ. He files his earmark in Piscataway town records in 1728. It is believed he married in Piscataway but we do not know date or wife REBECCA's maiden name. First child ANNA MCFARSON was born April 4, 1736 in Piscataway Middlesex Co. NJ. died young. Any information (such as birth records, marriage records, or cemetery records) about McPHERSON's and various spellings , in NJ would be helpful. Midge Haines Parrish, Fl. Jasspro@aol.com
