    2. John Harned
    3. I'm a new sign-up, so don't know what sources have been discussed in the past, but where families were early Woodbridge Quakers, a lot of information may be available in Rahway and Plainfield, Union Co. The Plainfield Friends Meeting has a nice web site which has a lot of historical information on the development of the Quaker Meetings at Woodbridge, Rahway and Plainfield. Genealogical information on some early families is included. They are at: http://members.tripod.com/PlainfieldFriends/ My principal Middlesex/Union Co focus is the HARNED/HARNETT family at Woodbridge ca. 1700, and the families with which they intermarried, including DEAN, FITZ RANDOLPH, BLOODGOOD, ALLWARD (ALWOOD), LAING, VAIL, POTTER, BISHOP, WINANCE, VAN COURT, BROWN, POTTER, CROW, TOWNSEND, JOHNSON, ACRES, DRAKE, GILES, DALLEY, and DALLY. Our Harned web site, which has data on 24,000 descendants of Edward Harnett (at Salem 1637), is at: http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~harned/ Many spouses of Harneds in Middlesex/Union/Somerset Co's remain unidentified, so if any of you stumble across Harned connections to your lines, I would appreciate you passing them along... 1. Suydam/Sedam & Runion/Runyon
    2. Mary A. Ellingson
    3. Hi Everyone, Here are the names that I am researching and seem to have it a very very thick brick wall with each of these names. Nicholas Suydam/Sedam b. 27 April 1782 in NJ d. 28 July 1871 in Rock Island Co IL He married 25 Sept 1807 in Bernards, Somerset, NJto: Rachel Ann Runion/Runyon b. 26 June 1789 in NJ d. 19 Dec 1863 Rock Island Co IL On their marriage record their names are as follows: Nicholas Suydam and Rachel Runion. As Nicholas left NJ he was spelling his name Sedam. Nicholas and Rachel were married at the Presbyterian Church in Basking Ridge. I wrote this church and they said they have no other information about this family. I do know that the church did not start keeping records until about 2 or 3 years before they were married there. The Suydams were a religious family so I would think that Nicholas would have been baptised somewhere. Plus if they were so religious where is the baptismal records for his children that are being born in NJ? The children that were born in NJ are: 1. William Suydam/Sedam b. 13 Sept 1808 2. Maria ann Suydam/Sedam b. 30 april 1809 3. Henry H. Suydam/Sedam b. 13 June 1811 4. Elizabeth A. Suydam/Sedam b. 13 June 1813 5. Corneluis Suydam/Sedam b. 7 June 1816 6. Catherine Suydam/Sedam b. 14 June 1818 Any and all help would be appreciated with finding the parents of both Nicholas and Rachel Ann. Mary

    2. Thanks for this opportunity! I am new to Middlesex County research, have been chasing my elusive COOMBS ancestors through Mercer, Burlington, and Monmouth Counties. I have Harrison COOMBS born in 1816 in NJ, I am researching a family I believe to be his--Abner COMBS and wife Matilda HULIT(still working on proof of her name). Abner was born in Monmouth in 1780, but was in tax lists and selling off land in East Windsor in 1819 and 1821 at the time this was Middlesex Co. His father was listed as James COMBS. Matilda was born about 1795, her father was George HULIT of East Windsor. He died in 1815. One son(of Abner/Matilda) James COMBS was born in Hightstown in 1821-23. Any one familiar with these families? I would also welcome ANY advice on researching records in Middlesex. I live in Burlington County and there are very, very few resources for Middlesex in our libraries, the other counties are fairly well represented. Thank you for your suggestions! Kathy

June 29, 1902 in 1902 (my gm) m. Sidonia WEISS (they were cousins) (when Alexander died, Sidonia married Julius BOEHM) According to family legend, Alexander WEISS was the proprietor of a general store in Fords sometime between 1902-1915 or so. He was also (I am told) a beer salesman and a shirtwaistmaker at various times previously, and he traveled on business and played around quite a bit. His family was not enamoured of him. [How would I track down business licenses or other records? Is there somewhere in the area to write to?] Sarena Sadie WEISS attended school in the area. [Are there any school records available from pre-1915?] The WEISS family was Jewish; I don't know about the BROWN family. [Is there a Jewish cemetery in the area, esp one that was likely to be used by the Hungarian community?] My helpful hints haven't actually panned out for me yet, but they are interesting resources. Through InterLibrary Loan (at no charge) I obtained the following books: -- "Vital Records of Woodbridge New Jersey" by Joseph W Dally lists vital stats for (mostly) 1700s in Woodbridge -- Fords, Yesterday & Today 1664-1964 by Dorothy F. 3. Hello Middlesex County Researches, Since the mailing list has now hit 110 subscribers I would like to ask everyone to send to the list their Middlesex County Surnames (as well as post them on the Middlesex County Query Board). Also I would like everyone to send to the list a helpful hint about research in Middlesex County, such as who to contact at a specific church, municipality or what town history books are available at a library. This information could save a researcher much precious time. Please do this over the course of the next few days. In addition, I have posted a few Funeral Director on line directories on the Middlesex County Genealogy web site. I have also taken a few more photos of the cemetery at the First Presbyterian Church of Woodbridge. Hopefully, they will come out (I tried something different). Thank You & Good Luck Glenn G.
