    1. Early Marriages of Middlesex Co.
    2. Does anybody know if there is a list(s) of the early marriages in Middlesex Co.? I'm researching the SILVER family, and I have found a lot of info. on their marriages, etc. in Burlington, Monmouth, and Salem Counties, but I can't find anything on the marriages of my branch, who settled in Windsor, Middlesex County. I've tried looking under Mercer County, and I haven't been able to find anything there either. Does anyone know if there's a reason for that? I'm looking in particular for Nathan SILVER, (born 1749) the son of John and Isabella HAWKINS SILVER, who lived Middlesex County. Any suggestions? I'd appreciate any insight. Thanks. My grandfather, Grove Porter Hinman of Plainfield, NJ created a memorial to exempt fireman located in front of the courthouse. What is an 'exempt' fireman? If there, I'd be interested in the address and also a photo. Thanks, Barbara H. Benjamin

    1. ARCHER/SILVER/NUTT/BENHAM families
    2. Hi. I have been researching my ancestors in NJ. The main names are SILVER and BENHAM, and NUTT. I've noticed several connections to the ARCHER family, and I'm trying to figure these connections out. I've noticed that many of the families I'm researching started out in northern NJ (Middlesex and Monmouth Counties), then travedled to KY, then OH, IN, then finally settled in IL. There must be a reason, and I'm trying to determine what the connection was between these families. If you have any any information about that, or if you recognize any of the following names, will you contact me? Thanks. 1. Benjamin ARCHER married Melleson Allyn. Their daughter Millicent married Gershom SILVER (born abt. 1724); 2. Joseph ARCHER married Sarah Unknown. Their daughter Mary (born 1756) married Aaron NUTT; 3. Mary Ann ARCHER, born 1813, married Aaron BENHAM. Beth BSmith7439@aol.com

    1. NJ State Archives
    2. The question was asked about the archives--whether it was worth it to go. I try to go at least once a month, it has been invaluable to my research. Just a few resources they have include--all NJ wills on film up to 1900, death records July 1848-1940, birth and marriage records July 1848-I believe 1924, Grantor-Grantee records, NJ census records and soundex plus many other records. Copies are 50 cents each. Their web site should give you hours and other information. The library upstairs from the archives also has books dealing with genealogy from all over the US and other countries, city directories on film and fiche and early census records for the whole US to 1820, some PA census records and book indexes to the various state censuses up to 1850. Hope this is helpful! Kathy
