Dorothy- In your first message you indicated "New Brunswick" and the new message you list "East Brunswick". In order to determine a list of nearby churches/cemeteries we would need to know is correct. I am interested in making contact with anyone doing research on the Campbell and Clinton families in New Jersey, and particularly in Middlesex County. On the Campbell side, the only records I have are on Lewis Campbell, b. 1811/12, presumably in New Jersey, and married to Delila Dey. According to the 1850 census, they then had five children: John (17), Sarah Ann (15), Mary J.(13), Elizabeth (10), and Elmira (1 yr). On 5 July 1856, Sarah Ann married my great-grandfather, James L. Clinton. The marriage certificate list James' residence as Union Valley, and Sarah's residence as Old Bridge. The 1880 census shows they then had four children: John (15), Charles (14), and George (7 yrs). My grandfather, Edward J., was born in 1880 after the census, or in 1881. The 1900 census suggests there was another son, James E., born March 1883. Beyond 1900, I have records only on Sarah, John, and Edward. A direct reply would be appreciated. Thanks. Looking for any connection to the FORDEN family that was from Yorkshire England. Migrated to USA about 1860-68. William & Mary had a daughter Sarah A. who perished in the Roundabouts area, in the Town/Township of East Brunswick, NJ. Does any one know what newspapers or publications were available for this area and this time period. What cemeteries are in this area, Episcopalian Churches ? TYIA Dorothy Blakeley

Each town in the county had their own system, and each town has it's "Public School #1", or the equivalent. Once you identify the town, (the name should be on the certificate), then maybe someone could connect you with the appropriate Board of Education. Keith Daniel
I am trying to find the parents of my ancestors Lawrence & Hannah (VAN WINKLE) THORN. Lawrence and Hannah married in Benton, Yates Co., NY in 1835, but according to census records they were both born in NJ, and Hannah had her first child, born in 1836 in NJ so I think she may have gone home to her family for the birth. The only 2 counties in NJ in 1830 that list both THORN and VAN WINKLE familes are Middlesex and Essex - am hoping someone out there can help as this is one of my brick walls!! Also, my mom thinks the Thorns were Quakers. Thanks, Kari Northup
I have received several messages from people who couldn't get the site I posted. I am going to put the address in again - please forgive me for mistyping. http://mapping.usgs.gov/www/gnis/gnisform.html Please don't let this deter you from trying this site for the location of a town or cemetery - it is really worth the effort. You can also get it by using a search engine. Sorry if you tried and couldn't get it earlier. Shirley Williams
Please note: The address given for maps has one incorrect letter in it: it is not "mapping.usgu" but it is "mapping.usgs" - sorry for hitting the wrong key. Please do check out the site if you are looking for the location of a town or cemetery. Sincerely, Shirley Williams
I just received information about this site on another list and it is really wonderful. I just printed out the map for a cemetery I have an interest in finding. Of course, you can use it for other features as well. Perhaps you already knew about it, but if not, you will find it very helpful. Shirley Winn Williams If you name a state and county, and enter cemetery for the feature, it will return a table of all known cemeteries in the county. You can then click on the cemetery for a location, description and a map. http://mapping.usgu.gov/www/gnis/gnisform/html
Recently, I received a death cert for my GAunt who parished in the Township/Town of New Brunswick Middlesex County in a place called Roundabouts. Would any one know the location of this place ? Is it a Town, a Park or what. The incident was a drowning and the year was 1868. TYIA, Dorothy Blakeley NY USA
Hello, I am interested in corresponding with anyone doing research on the COOK family in Monmouth and/or Middlesex counties. My main interest is finding the parentage of John COOK, born April 1787, in Long Branch, Monmouth county. I have recently heard that he may have been in Piscataway as well. He married Ann Huston, again in Long Branch, and had children there, namely my ancestor John Woolson COOK. Sometime around 1820, he migrated to Warren and Miami counties in Ohio and then to Kosciusko County, Indiana. He was known to exhort for the Methodist Episcopal church, but I have found no information on him from the Methodist church. Is there anyone who would want to respond to this inquiry? Searching for the cemetery record for Fredrick Gustoff LOETZER who died in 1958, Highland Park, MIddlesex, NJ. Alene

Many thanks to all who have helped those of us interested in the old Stelton Baptist Cemetery in Piscataway. We're fortunate to have volunteers who go out of their way to mail copies of the published inscriptions and who will make a trip to the site. You are appreciated. Judy Tooman
Hello MCR's, Yesterday I was able to go to the Stelton Baptist Church, formally the First Baptist Church of Piscataway, Cemetery. It is located next to the church in a triangular area with the two long sides approx. 150 feet. The headstones were in various stages of weathering. Some were in perfect shape while others were illegible and broken. I quickly jotted down some of the surnames that were on the stones: The greatest amount of headstones belonged to the following families: Drake Runyon Dayton Randolph Dunn Stelle Other surnames were: Rush Martin Graves Dockstader Clarkson Henderson Williams Jones Hummer Higgins Smith Lewis Stine Walker Horcom Griffith The most interesting headstone belonged to Abraham Van Gilder which read: Born on the high seas in October 1701, died 1818 at age 116. Researching the surname HIBBITS (or HIBBETS, HIBBETTS, HIBBITTS, etc). I'm interested in information on any individuals with that surname in NJ, particularly those with ties to Middlesex and/or Monmouth Co. I'm collecting these Hibbits in hope that I can tie them to my James Hibbits line (James born about 1810 in Middlesex Co, lived in Manalapan Twp, Monmouth Co, and died probably between 1870-1880). I'd appreciate even the smallest bit of info on this line! Looking for any information on the family of Lena GIDDEMAN who married Cornelius TEEL/THIELE on 19 Dec 1750 in New Brunswick Reformed Church. Diane
I am collecting information on the Dey families of Middlesex County, NJ. They lived primarily in Cranbury and New Brunswick Twp., about 1760 to present, with my interest being those who lived before 1850. They intermarried extensively with the families of Perrine, Mount, Rue, Ely. Name is sometimes spelled Dye. There were also lines of the same family in Freehold area and also in Mercer County, NJ. Descendants went to NY, PA, KY, VA, OH, and on to IL, IA, and CA. I have fair burial, chr., marriage records. I lack deeds and biographical data, and have very few records from family Bibles. I'm having problem with e-mail, so you may need to type in my e-mail address to reply. Tom Robertshaw
