I just learned my g-g-grandfather , Henry McSpaden , was an Alderman in New Brunswick . Henry was born in Ireland abt. 1831 and died May 10 , 1895 . I imagine an alderman is like a councilman . Would anyone have records that show when Henry was an alderman ? Would there be records in the New Brunswick city gov't ? I have been trying to learn where in Ireland he was born and any help would be greatly appreciated. Mahalo , Kevin
Hi Folks, Many subscribers seem to send E-mails concerning addresses and telephone numbers for cemeteries. This is a good site: http://www.gac.edu/~kengelha/usframe.html I found it through http://www.cyndislist.com/ Hope this helps some of you. The site also depends on feedback from users. If you have additional addresses and telephone numbers, help them grow. I'm not connected with the site. John Cresseveur - Kentucky
I will contact someone in Dunellen by snail mail who may be able to help you. I might mention that I lived in Dunellen for 40 years, and Dunellen does not have a "Main St.". It was destroyed a few years ago. I'm quoting from the book "Images of America: Perth Amboy" by Joan Seguine-LeVine: p. 125 "The famous landscape artist George Innes lived and worked in a studio at the corner of Convery Blvd and Smith Street. This residence was built for him by Marcus Spring, generally credited as the founder of Eagleswood. "Peace and Plenty", a work now in the Metropolitan Museum of Art, was created by Innes as a repayment for Spring." -- Michelle Tucker Carteret, NJ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ OKGenWeb County Coordinator: Cherokee Co.: http://www.rootsweb.com/~okchero2/index.htm OKGenWeb Archives: Adair Co.: http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/ok/adair/adair.html Sequoyah Co.: http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/ok/sequoyah/sequoyah.html Michelle's Home Page: http://members.home.net/famhist/shell.htm Countiss Connections: http://members.home.net/famhist/countiss.htm

Dear friends, Here's the latest update on the town name changes. Sorry for the delay, but a certain toilet sprang a tank leak and flooded the bathroom and hall. Took a weekend of work to clean up the mess, replace the toilet and dry out the carpet. Fell behind on the email. Please look the list over carefully, especially the "Poplar" experts. I hope I made the right interpertation on the location discussion that occurred over this entry. We've picked up several Camden county entries, but sorely lack in the Mercer county area. Considering Mercer was pieced together from so many other counties, it would be helpful if we could pick up some of the changes. Thanks again to all who have contributed to the list. Roberta, The CODDINGTON family goes way back to the beginnings of Woodbridge Township in 1669. I'm sorry to report that the earliest known local tax list to survive starts in 1824. However, the New Jersey Historical Society has on microfilm "New Jersey Education Tax Rateables 1778-1832", and the originals are supposed to be in file in the NJ State Archives. If he was a land owner or head of household during the years you specified, he might be listed. Hi Everyone, Does anyone know of a tax list for Woodbridge from 1804 to 1810? I am trying to prove that Benjamin Coddington was in the area for 1804 to 1810. I know that he died in Warren Twp. Somerset Co. NJ the 28th. of Aug 1836 . Any help would really be appreciated. Thank you. Roberta Summers.
Is this a cress of head of household only or like the one in Iowa that looks like a regular federal census of the time? Jerilyn
