The connection to Middlesex Co. is that Deborah's twin sister, Sarah, had married Ross Shaw who was born in Middlesex Co. in 1838. I am thinking that perhaps Charles Bird was a friend of Ross' family and visited Ross in MN, where he met Deborah.
