Patrice: Would you look in this book to see if there is mention of the Old Dominion Steamship Co., owned by the ROWLAND family, I believe. Is the FARMER family mentioned? Thanks, Pat
The Book has no listings for Cummins, German Valley or Long Valley. There is no info on immigration routes. The book was published in 1964 by Rutgers University Press. If I might suggest, there are several volumes of a book called, something to the effect the History of Woodbridge and Piscataway. It is listed in GenealogyLibrary.com. It is very informative and you might find what you want there. To subscribe to that site, it is abt. $10 for a month. I have used those volumes on several of my other lines and found them helpful. Those volumes are also available through the LDS. If you are unable to locate the books I am talking about, please let me know and I will find the exact title for you. The Chapters are as follows: 1 - A Bird From Heaven 2 - The Kings and the Liberty Boys 3- Fighting for Freedom 4 - Steamboat Days 5 -Solomon Andres and his Airship 6 - The Old Dutch College 7 - The Wizard of Menlo Park 8 - In the Steps of Weechqueechley A Postcript Whats in a name? Hi, You asked for DE HARTs in New Brunswick, but I thought you might find this of interest. I've found a few DE HARTs in Milltown, New Brunswick's near neighbor... In THE STORY OF MILLTOWN, by H. Rodney Luery, Published 1971... There is a WILLIAM DE HART included in a long list of those signing a petition, in October 22, 1888, to form a Borough Commission and set boundaries of the proposed borough of Millltown which was to be established from a area of North Brunswick. Earlier the City of New Brunswick and the Township of East Brunswick were created in the same way from what was originally North Brunswick. Then in the list of Borough Officials I found a few other DE HARTs listed. 1932 - Councilman HAROLD DE HART 1935 - Councilman JOSEPH DE HART 1936 - Councilman HAROLD DE HART 1937 - Councilmen JOSEPH DE HART & HAROLD DE HART 1938 - Councilmen JOSEPH DE HART & HAROLD DE HART 1939 - Councilman JOSEPH DE HART 1940-41 - Mayor JOSEPH M. DE HART 1942 - Mayor JOSEPH M. DE HART My Husband's Grandfather Albert Skewis was Councilman for several years and I see that Joseph De Hart and Albert Skewis both served in 1935. In 1936 Albert Skewis and both Harold and Joseph De Hart served as Councilmen. Did you already know this??? I'd love to hear if this is news to you. Hope this helps, Ruth, Sacramento, CA ________________ Ruth(Grady)&Don Skewis ruth4527@mindspring.com > -----Original Message----- > From: wmeier@snet.net [mailto:wmeier@snet.net] > Sent: Tuesday, May 30, 2000 5:21 PM > To: NJMIDDLE-L@rootsweb.com > Subject: [NJMIDDLE] James DeHart of New Brunswick > > > Posted on: Middlesex Co. NJ Query Forum Board URL: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/NJ/Middlesex?read=1056 Surname: Barber ------------------------- The source is "The First Settlers of Piscataway and Woodbridge." By Orra Eugene Monnette, 1931. On page 101, Francis Barber is listed as taking the oath of allegiance as one of the first 65 Elizabethtown Associates in Feb. 1665. The same book indicates that by 1680, Francis Barber moved over to Staten Island. He had a large family and a son named Edward. Several Edward Barbers are living in Middlesex in the early 1700s - One I believe is the son of Francis and father of John Barber of Sussex (now Warren) County. If you know of other sources - please let me know!

Does this book have an index? I'd buy it if I thought it had information on the Morrises of Woodbridge. Can anyone answer this please? Sandra in Switzerland
Could whoever posted that information about the Kerwins please repost it. I deleted it in error, I may have some information on that. Feel free to post directly to me at this address, Thanks
I went into "world search" through our local library for interlibrary loan and found the book. There were many copies of the book in many different libraries in NJ and also other states. I have ordered it through my library. Shirley
Hi- Searching for info on SADOWSKI family. What Cath. Polish church would have been in South Amboy/Sayreville, 1890-1920`s? Were there polish men`s/family groups? Any help appreciated, Barbara : )
If you go to www.bookfinder.com , you'll find about two dozen copies for sale, ranging in price from $3 to $57. Miers also wrote "Down in Jersey: an Affectionate Narrative". I've been doing some "housekeeping" on the distribution list and thinking about the Middlesex Co. GenWeb page. 1. If you are going to be gone on vacation, please unsubscribe from the list and re-subscribe when you return. All the bounces for full mailboxes, inactive addresses, etc. come to MY mailbox and I'm a very unhappy camper when my mailbox fills up with administrative busy work!*G* 2. There are 270 subscribers to this list. I recognize many of the names from other lists. Those lists are fairly high volume but the amount of traffic on this list is very low compared to the number of subscribers. Don't any of you have questions or information or resources you can share?? While we have seen a small increase in list activity, I'm sure there are many tidbits of genealogy information that could be shared with the list! 3. I'm also looking for resources and volunteers for the Middlesex GenWeb page. We need volunteers with access to Middlesex resources for lookups! We need to get some information transcribed and into the Archives!...how about working on a cemetery transcription or volunteer to transcribe part or all of a census??? Have you posted the wills, obits, pension records, bible records or deeds that are currently in your genealogy files and/or database to the GenConnect boards for Middlesex Co? Nancy Wilson has kindly started on some transcribing and you can look for that information on the GenWeb page shortly! (She's fast, I'm the slowpoke!*LOL*) 4. The Monmouth Co. list has taken on the task of transcribing the 1910 census for Monmouth Co. Is there some project that this list might be willing to work on? Put on your thinking caps folks! 5. Drive safely! Pat Mount NJMIDDLE list

I need access to a book entitled "Where the Raritan Flows" which was recently described on this list. This title does not appear in the catalog of the Library of Congress or anywhere else that I have searched. Is there any more information available about this potentially very valuable book? W.
