Looking for info on George Ashton. I have his obituary where it mentions he left a wife, 4 daughters and a son. I would like to know who the wife was. He was born in Manchester UK 1807. He was for many years identified with the dry goods importing commission business in New Brunswick NJ. He was a partner in the importing house of Bird, Gillilan & Co. and later head of Ashton & Gillilan. Any info greatly appreciated. Cari Green
My grandfather Thomas Tynan died in New Brunswick between 1913 and 1916. I have been told by others that the state takes a long time to send the death certificate. There is a Geoffrey Cooper that will get these certificates for about $12.50. Has anyone used him, & what are my other alternatives when I live in Florida. Kathleen Tynan
Hello I am looking for a newspaper that used to circulate in Perth Amboy called "The Perth Amboy Evening News". I am absolutely sure it existed in 1954. I would like to find out where the archives are in order to look up birth/death notices. Also, if anyone knows of other local newspapers of that time please inform. Thank you! Kathi-Raisa Petrick

Hi Joann -- I will see if I have a copy of Joseph F-R's will in my files. You state you are descended from Isaac Stelle -- through which child? Harman Clark hclark@bypass.com
I have been posting some information over on the Munday list and have just a section of claim filed by a James Drake . Unfortunately I have just a partial page. I was going for the family name Munday. This James Drake was from Middlesex Co. NJ., but cannot give you the exact town. The actual claim was sworn to on Sept 1882, but believe because it was grouped in claims filed in 1777 , that , that is the actual date the inventory of losses was filed. I can give you what I have on this James Drake if you would like. I also have a full page of claims filed against loses by the British for a Joseph Brown of Piscataway, Middlesex Co. NJ. I have copied this entire claims because of the reference to a Reubin Munday . I can also give you this over the Middlesex list too. Also have the complete list of claims from a Reuben Runyon of Middlesex Co. NJ. with a reference to a William Whitlock and John Voorhees. Anna

NJ Query Forum Board URL: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/NJ/Middlesex?read=1074 Surname: Davis ------------------------- I'm researching the Sickles family and I know some where down the line, there is a Davis/Sickles marriage, but I haven't got that far, to date. I know there is a Davis home page, consisting of that information; maybe My Family.com? Good luck with your searches.

In particular, I am interested in the family of Samuel Davis. Mary Davis, daughter of Samuel Davis, married Edward Barber in the late 1600s.
New Jersey Surnames: Hage, Koenig, Jacobsen, Nowak, Glynn, Dittman, or Buettner. I would appreciate a post or an email to msguru@bellatlantic.net if you have any information that fits any one of these surnames. Thank you!
Posted on: Middlesex Co. NJ Query Forum Board URL: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/NJ/Middlesex?read=1072 Surname: Beatty, Martin, Southward, Mulligan, Cleland ------------------------- Does anyone researching Piscataway know if there was an Irish community whose members would have crossed the Raritan to attend St. Peters in New Brunswick in the late 1850? My GG grandfather (David Beatty)was baptised there in 1857 but there is no indication of the family in N.B. until 1866. There is an Census index reference to a James Beatty (possibly his father) in Piscataway in 1850. It seems the distance to the Somerset St. church from Landing Lane wouldn't have been too much.

> What type of information is available on these directories, and for what > years. > > Thank You > Kathleen Tynan The New Brunswick City Directories were the alphabetical listings of people living in (and in some cases around) the city. Before phones were in common use, they served to let people locate one another and local businesses. I don't know what years are available, but I do know that the books are old and delicate, and some no longer exist. If you are in the New Brunswick area, I would advise you visit the Special Collections and Archives in Alexander Library. I worked my way through a pile of these directories, found something in a later issue, then went through them a second time for other cousins' names. This, you can't really ask of a reference librarian. Plus, there's nothing quite like seeing these books for yourself. Over and out, Rob
What type of information is available on these directories, and for what years. Thank You Kathleen Tynan
