    1. [NJMIDDLE] "pastor's books"
    2. catherine r. buck
    3. Does anyone know of a source or sources for lists of "pastor's books". Recently I have been told that in the early days - 1700 and 1800 to 1900 - most small isolated churches were served by traveling ministers, who kept their records with them, and if they died most very often their records disappeared with them. In the Montgo Historical Society, I have seen a couple of transcriptions of the records of ""Pastor 'so-and-so' "" and just assumed that they were ministers serving full time in a church building. I guess that's my 21st century way of looking at things. In LDS I have seen reference to those same records. I need to find some sort of compendium of early travelling ministers. Or an index. Or something to find who performed marriages and baptisms and conducted funerals. Any suggestions anyone? Ruth in GA
