I have cross-posted this message to other lists, so I apologize in advance to any of you that will get this two (or more) times. For those of you who are interested in acquire photocopies of any of the citations you may find in the "Burlington County Newspaper Notices Index" (NNI)... You will need to email or call the library which owns the newspaper title on microfilm. The NNI's "Newspaper Directory" will assist you in finding a Library located in Burlington County. Each library listed in the Directory has a different fee policy and requirements. The library email address are available both on the NNI homepage (at the bottom) and on each library's webpage (see links on webpage). Please note that you may have access to a newspaper collection that is not listed in the "Newspaper Directory" (e.g., Camden County Library, Gloucester County Historical Society, etc.) and you may wish to call that Library or repository before trying to get a photocopy long distance. Enjoy your holiday season. Paula Manzella Burlington County Library Reference, NJ & Genealogy ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE DECEMBER 1, 2003 NEW DATABASES: LOCAL NEWSPAPERS and POSTCARDS INDEXED The Burlington County Library proudly announces the release of two new local history and genealogy research databases The Burlington County Newspaper Notices Index and the Burlington County Library Postcard Image Collection. Both of these databases are of particular interest to genealogists and historians across the nation. The postcard database will be especially helpful for students, journalists and authors. To date, the Newspaper Notices Index database contains over 30,000 references to published obituaries, death notices, marriage announcements, and birth announcements from over 22 historical and currently published Burlington County area newspapers, including the Mount Holly Herald, New Jersey Mirror, Daily Enterprise (Burlington City), Bordentown Register News, New Egypt Press, Triple Towns Tribune (Riverside), Burlington County Times, and many others. The oldest citations in the index date back to the mid-1800s. The database continues to grow as library staff and volunteers are adding citations weekly. The Burlington County Library Postcard Image Collection is a digital collection of over 400 historic postcards. Most of the postcards are of Burlington County locations (i.e., Mount Holly, Bordentown, Burlington, Moorestown, Riverside, etc.), however wonderful images are available for many Central and South Jersey locations, including Trenton, Atlantic City, Camden and Batsto. This new online newspaper index is available free-of-charge on the Burlington County Librarys Internet site at the following URL: < http://sql.bcls.lib.nj.us/gen >. The Postcard Index can be found at URL: < http://postcard.burlco.org/ >. Researchers may also find the two databases by going to the Burlington County Library homepage at URL: < www.bcls.lib.nj.us >. If your 3g-grandfather was W.M. Peterson you should check a map #MP/3813/M50/130/1876AAC1 in the Rutgers collection. The map was drawn in 1876 and it shows Washington, NJ and a property at the intersection of Reid and Thomas St. owned by W.M. Peterson. This is only 200 feet from Daley's Pond and is next to a brook that flows from the pond to the river. It could be that this is the brook you mentioned in your original message. John

I just want to pass this on if it matters to anyone who may bid on genealogy items on eBay. "sevenchildren" places NJ-related auctions occasionally. Recently I attempted to bid on an item placed on eBay by the seller named "sevenchildren". My bid was refused by the seller. I tried several times and each time my bid was rejected. I emailed the seller multiple times asking why and never received a response. I've completed at least one transaction in the past with this seller successfully, and no unsuccessful transactions. I'm currently attempting to file a report with eBay but it appears that eBay has no avenue of applying feedback for the seller nor reporting the seller in this instance. I suppose it's within the seller's right to block anyone's bid. But, I feel it's wrong to ignore my emails asking why. -- Marshall Lake -- [email protected] -- http://mlake.net

These are some of the familes that were involved with my Haggerty line. It's pretty amazing how many of the Haggerty's seem to be related. These all seem to be in New Brunswick. Houghton , Joseph New, Henry McSpaden, William Boylan, James Harkins, James Downing If any of these names show up in your tree, let me know. Take care, Kevin
Is anyone researching Haggerty? My ancestor is Daniel who appears on the 1840 census. He was related to Michael and Patrick Haggerty. I see now there might be 2 Patrick Haggerty's, possibly a senior and junior. One died in 1838 intestate, naturally, and his widow Margaret handled the estate. I see a Patrick on the 1840 census, but I don't have a subscription at present. A Margaret Haggerty, age 80, is in the household of Daniel's widow Nancy in 1850. So it is possible that Margaret is the mother of all Haggerty's (at least Michael, Daniel, and Patrick). Is anyone else following the Haggerty's ? Mahalo and take care, Kevin
