    3. RootsWeb is seeing a lot of infected email 'doing the rounds', and especially cases of the worm W32/[email protected] [McAfee] aka WORM_MIMAIL.R [Trend] aka [email protected] [Symantec]. As a reminder, RootsWeb's mailing lists do NOT and CANNOT transmit infected e-mail as they forward text e-mail only and no binary attachments, though it is possible for the email addresses of mailing lists to be faked. Please check your anti-virus software. For more info go to: http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/vinfodb.html or http://us.mcafee.com/virusInfo/default.asp?cid=9451 In addition today, RootsWeb has undergone significant modifications to its domain name lookup and IP addresses, and from their perspective this looks to have happened without incident. However, there may be consequences external to RootsWeb's network. IP addresses are the underlying methodology that computers use to identify and talk to each other on the internet. While most ISPs will only store (cache) RootsWeb's IP addresses for short periods, some ISPs may retain RootsWeb old details for an extended period. With regard to e-mail, it is also possible that e-mail to and from RootsWeb may be delayed until the changes have spread (propagated) through the internet. Also, where RootsWeb has had some mailing list servers placed on a whitelist with ISPs, these arrangements may need to be renewed, with the consequence being that Rootsweb may not be able to deliver e-mail to all ISPs at this time. AOL has been bouncing all mail from the lists (now why am I NOT surprised?) and there may be more affected ISP's as the day progresses. Thanks for your attention! Pat Mount List Admin

My great-grandparents moved there in 1931 from Chicago, but I won't get started with the St. Valentine's Day massacre story cause I am determined to rest today. Well, I'll try to.... They lived on Helmetta road, near St. James Church now and Red and Black (Lincoln Ave). They all worked like mules and were dirt poor(as we see today) yet they said they never knew how bad it was since everyone in town was in the same boat, so to speak. My cousin Bob owned his farm opposite the school for wayward boys, until he died aboout a year ago. But other than him, my family were strictly "minor league" in both money and property. I believe he may have sold that land by 1692 when I find him in Burlington Co. Does anyone have a record of such a transfer of title to 500 acres from Clements to ??? Is there a history of Middlesex Co which covers persons living there prior to 1700? Thanks for any assistance on finding the trail of my ancestor. He was a ship captain who made many voyages from London to New England and New York between 1669 and 1685 prior to settling in New Jersey. Jessie, Calif

And along with it low temperatures to freeze solid anything on the ground. Definately not whistling through the graveyard weather... Does anyone remember those contraptions made to heat up a gravesite enough to dig? I believe they were propane powered(?) with a metal cover aproximately 7' x 3 1/2 ' that rolled over the lot and S-L-O-W-L-Y unfroze the ground to permit a backhoe, or gee wiz, a shovel, to get through the earth. I recall Mr. Gibbons, the gravedigger of St. James Cemetery in Jamesburg who had been at the shovel for 50 years. He took great pride in the fact that he dug each grave BY HAND, and looked at the cemetery as his own responsibility, both for interments and maintainance. We all owe him thanks for his care. I asked around, and bugged my mother to call around, and in the end, there was no real reason why my ggmother *never rec'd a stone!* Time passed, and the task was forgotten.
